Job description


The Mortgage Operations Associate supports the day-to-day operations of the Mortgage Operations Department by performing a variety of loan boarding, closing, and post-closing activities. This position is responsible for ensuring mortgage transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with credit union policies, investor requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

35% Boards and disburses mortgage loans within the core banking system, ensuring accurate loan setup, data integrity, timely funding, and compliance with credit union policies, investor requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

20% Performs mortgage operational support activities, including payment setup, loan account maintenance, and borrower information updates, ensuring accurate records and timely processing

15% Conducts verifications of employment and other quality control activities to support loan eligibility, documentation accuracy, and compliance with investor and regulatory requirements.

15% Prepares, organizes, and reviews mortgage loan closing packages to support post-closing and secondary market activities while ensuring accuracy and completeness.

15% Collaborates effectively with internal business partners and external stakeholders to support mortgage operations, resolve inquiries, and ensure timely, accurate, and efficient workflow execution.


 Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.


Knowledge and Skills

Experience - One to three years of experience in mortgage lending, loan servicing, banking, financial services, or a related operational environment preferred. 

 

Education - High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.


Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Other Skills

Competencies: Must be at least 18 years of age. Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondibility, and Reference Checks required. (Motor Vehicle check dependent on position.) Travel to other branches or locations may be required depending on position. Experience with Pricing and Product Eligibility engine (PPE) and Loan Origination System (LOS) required. Basic knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
