Job description

BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa,is currently seeking anUnderwriting Operations Technicianto join our Underwriting Operations team. BITCO provides quality property and casualty insurance services to specialized industries including Construction, Forest Products, and Oil & Gas. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after an introductory training period.

Position Summary:

The Underwriting Operations Technician supports the Commercial Underwriting team by processing policies and quotes. This role reviews applications and policy changes for accuracy, rates new and renewal business, calculates premiums, and assists Underwriters with quotes and endorsements. Strong attention to detail, knowledge of rating systems and industry manuals (ISO, NCCI), and the ability to understand insurance policy language are essential for accurate and efficient processing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend written documents including insurance and policy terms and other factual information
  • Review applications and requests for policy changes to ensure information is accurate in order to complete the rating process; and reports to the Underwriter accordingly
  • Rate policies and changes in such policies, utilizing the company's rating/publishing system
  • Assist in contacting Underwriting personnel to discuss quotes, renewals, applications, changes and underwriting issues
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of the company's rating/publishing system
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of ISO, NCCI, and other appropriate online manuals
  • Calculate premiums on endorsements, cancellations, and payment plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous Property/Casualty Commercial Lines Insurance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO (Insurance Services Offices) /NCCI (Workers' Compensation) regulations
  • Previous experience with insurance rating/publishing system(s) preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding and application of Microsoft Office
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to stay organized and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Office environment; this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, as directed by manager
  • Frequently sit at a desk or other work station for extended periods of time
