Job Overview

Responsible for providing oversight and direction to all production teams in support of a 24/7 manufacturing environment.  Teams must execute the production schedule safely and efficiently while delivering high quality product to our customer within the expected delivery timeframe.  The key metrics are an injury free workplace, quality (external and internal good product), productivity (operating efficiencies and on-time delivery) and turnover.  The Production Manager is a leader in the company and must present him/herself as a leader. 

Highlights of your role
  • Establish and promote a safety culture within the Production team that fully embraces the Safety Vision of achieving and maintaining an injury free workplace and supports VPP efforts. 
  • Actively develop and manage the culture of your team to align with Marvin Composites' mission and values as measured by survey scores, turnover, retention and other key culture metrics of the position. 
  • Manage execution of the production schedule as measured by on-time delivery to our customers, and work closely with scheduling team to provide needed inputs to the schedule such as manpower availability, equipment concerns, etc. 
  • Manage the production team's execution of standardized procedures for startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, color changes, & fab. steps.  Key indicators of success in this area are production efficiency metrics. 
  • Support the end customer by consistently delivering high quality material that meets all quality specifications as measured by external good product (low returns) and internal good product (low scrap). 
  • Manage production labor force to efficiently and effectively meet operations goals, as measured by direct labor costs, FG ft/man-hr., and man-hour/log-hour.  
  • Ensure that production team members are accurately reporting all process transactions in MRP system.
  • Control WIP area to ensure product is properly identified, easily located, and quickly converted to finished goods as needed. 
  • Mentor direct reports and other associates to ensure policies and procedures are being followed and support associates as they develop their career paths.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and organization throughout the facility, following the principles of 5S. 
  • Manage assigned budget to ensure accurate budget development and expense spending control. 
  • Manage projects and other duties assigned within time and budgetary parameters. 
  • Ensure that all team members are properly trained on hazardous waste management and ensure that all appropriate hazardous waste handling measures are consistently followed. 
  • Encourage waste minimization efforts within teams. 
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or another technical-related field preferred.
  • 5 years' manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in management.
  • Experience with World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, and TQM preferred.
  • Excellent written, communication, and time management skills.
