Job Title: Business Development Manager - Modular
Reports to: Local Division Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary
The Business Development Manager - Modular has the key function of understanding the market needs and aligning them to the modular product offerings from Stäubli; all in efforts to grow the revenue within the North American Market. Opportunities are researched and promoted to the Regional Sales Manager and associated Field Sales Engineers to take necessary actions for revenue growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrated ability to build the market by locating, defining, and developing opportunities within the Modular connector market in North America.
• Instrumental in identifying new product offerings, and value added offerings to grow the valuation of the opportunities within the modular market space.
• Identify trendsetter ideas by researching the industry and related needs and changes to the market.
• Locates and proposes potential business opportunities by contacting potential partners and customers.
• Have a clear understanding of, and be able to convey to the Sales Department, the overall company philosophy, policies and objectives. The ultimate responsibility is to carry out the decisions of the Company and also reflect them in the best possible light with the personnel supervised.
• Support and engage in the execution of market specific goals from HQ.
• Prepare Monthly Status reports and collect information from sales team.
• Works with LDM and Sales Managers to create new strategies to promote and grow the modular connector offering into the market.
• Direct and indirect participation in organizations and committees to promote the Stäubli modular connector system, and to understand the market and regulatory demands from the market.
• Instrumental in understanding the key competition's marketing and sales strategy, product offering (including new product development) to ensure Stäubli remains competitive in the market segments.
• Maintains up to date information on competitors and implements necessary strategies to minimize risk to Stäubli solutions
• Be a good business person and have the ability to analyze business opportunities and direct personnel in making sound business decisions with regard to future potential and return on investment.
• Have a thorough knowledge of product applications in every one of the major Industry categories and be acutely aware of those offering the greatest potential. The Business Development Manager should be well versed in the sales strategies necessary to overcome customer objections, meet competition, and generally promote the sales of all lines of Stäubli product to which they have been assigned.
• Be able to recognize the need for extensions of existing products, new products, and new markets which will enhance the growth of the Company and be commensurate with its profit objectives.
• Assist in setting annual sales goals. Standards must be demanding yet attainable, and therefore reviewed and revised periodically.
• Assist in setting sales policies and ensuring they are clearly understood, followed and consistently reviewed.
• Assist in supporting local Marketing to effectively promote relevant products.
• Be strong, confident and inspirational in mentoring and training Sales personnel.
• Possess strong decision making skills and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner. Must display a willingness to take reasonable risks within the bounds of authority and accept responsibility for decisions. Decisions are to be consistent with company policies, procedures and objectives.
• Encourage others to contribute ideas and opinions; listen to these ideas attentively. Effectively communicate with the Sales Department, handle questions promptly and explain decisions thoroughly.
• Effectively utilize time to efficiently manage the Sales Department including personal visits and sales calls with all Field Sales Engineers and management of Inside Sales. Participate in monthly Department and Strategic Planning Team meetings.
• Ensure all social media support the Stäubli guidelines, and self-monitor social media platforms to ensure on-going compliance and voice of Stäubli.
• Has excellent communication skills and can represent Stäubli as a panel speaker or for press inquiries at relevant events.
• Minimum of 25% travel required.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
• Effectively communicates and motivates across multiple mediums both externally and internally.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to provide update presentations to Stäubli US management, European Stäubli Management and Operating Board (KL).
• Excellent sales and customer skills with proven negotiation skills.
• Be a self-starter and work under limited supervision.
• Be able to use critical thinking and problem solving to resolve sales related issues.
• Exhibit strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, CRM software, File Maker, Internet, e-mail, PowerPoint.
• Characteristics would include: driven, ambitious, competitive, optimistic, resilient, analytic, self-starter, independent, entrepreneurial, solution-oriented and influential.
Education and/or Experience
• BSEE or BSME preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of successful technical sales preferred.
• Proven success of company-direct sales of technical products.
