Job description

SUMMARY:

The Production Manager directs, plans, and coordinates activities concerned with production and establishes production priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Partner with the Plant Manager to establish and implement company policies, operational objectives, production and quality standards, budgetary plans, and cost-control initiatives. Analyze and maintain data to support efficient operations and customer commitments.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors quality control programs, operating procedures, and production standards to improve product quality, reduce issues, and ensure compliance with company requirements. Coordinates investigations involving raw material suppliers and concerns.
  2. Oversee production processes, adjusts or revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems, and ensures goods and services are produced efficiently and with the correct quantities, quality, and cost. Drive achievement of tube mill production goals and performance metrics.
  3. Collaborate with engineering team to evaluate and implement equipment and process improvements that enhance production efficiency, product quality, and overall operational performance.
  4. Lead, coach, and develop plant supervisors to support the workforce. Provide coverage for Supervisors and Plant Manager during absences. Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and vacation planning for hourly employees.
  5. Serve as the company representative during employee relations activities in accordance with company policies.
  6. Manage the procurement of manufacturing supplies and services to support operations and cost-control objectives.
  7. Foster and maintain a proactive safety culture by promoting safe work practices, supporting safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations and company standards.
  8. Customer claim visits.
  9. Partner with plant management and safety team on workers' compensation and return-to-work programs. Facilitate timely claim resolution and successful employee reintegration. Perform other duties as required by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational focus, critical thinking, and able to effectively assess and resolve complex and/or technical problems.
  1. Ability to work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships, business coordination and staff development.
  2. Strong leadership and communication skills, flexible, and effective in a union environment.
  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, business partners, plant personnel, and others.
  2. Ability to understand and effectively use computerized business systems and other technology and business platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field highly preferred.
  2. A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated manufacturing operations supervisory experience, preferably in the metal tubing industry.
  3. A solid understanding of business planning and operational, quality, and safety requirements.
