Job description

Job Title: Implementation Specialist I

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Family: Affiliates

Department: Brotherhood Works - Payroll & HR

Location: Corporate Office (Fort Wayne, IN)

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for software configuration specific to each ministry including earnings, benefit deductions, and taxes to be withheld for payroll implementation. Record and reconcile pay history with associated filings. Educate and provide resources to clients to help them understand the unique taxation and payment topics.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Conduct simple tax reconciliations for all applicable taxes. Provide recommendations to bring pay history and tax settings into compliance where necessary and achieve client approval.
  • Manage the client relationship through the implementation process from conference call through processing of first payroll.
  • Conduct and review a test payroll, collaborating with the client to obtain approval of a finalized version.
  • Conduct conference calls with clients probing for root level client needs simultaneously adjusting software configuration to refine setup.
  • Educate clients on IRS, state, and local regulations, system capability, MinistryWorks online payroll software, MinistryWorks payroll processes, additional software features and MinistryWorks products.
  • Execute processing of the first payroll in MinistryWorks payroll software.
  • In conjunction with Manager and Tax Department, understand and assist in research of federal, state, and local taxes to ensure proper configuration and accurate pay history.
  • Demonstrate the procedural knowledge needed to respond to routine questions from clients.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Understand clergy payroll and the unique taxation and payment topics, demonstrating the ability to educate and effectively communicate these specific topics and subject matter.
  • Must have strong computer software skills, specifically with data base, Excel and payroll processing software.
  • Must have strong communication/interpersonal skills – both oral (in person and via telephone) and written.
  • Must be able to work independently and exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Exhibits strong organization skills and work well under pressure with multiple daily deadlines.
  • Must maintain absolute confidentiality of payroll information and records.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Must have an Associate’s degree, or two years of advanced education, in business, accounting, human resources or related field.
  • Must have at least two years of payroll, finance, human resources or business experience.
  • Must have previous experience with payroll systems either in the private sector or at the service bureau level.
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly desired (specifically in accounting).
  • Prior payroll experience in the area of customer set up and implementation is desired.
  • Experience with a payroll service bureau is desired.
