Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking an Assistant Manager, Production to be responsible for the Single-Use Manufacturing department at Avantor Fluid Handling site in Devens, MA.

They will be responsible for a team of supervisors across 3 shifts and cleanroom associates and will coordinate day-to-day activities, in collaboration with the cleanroom supervisors and other internal stakeholders, to ensure continuous production.

The role reports directly to the Site Operation Manager and is required to collaborate with site leadership toward the goals of the business.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Maintain and reenforce manufacturing procedures and ensures that production is flowing to the schedules, with minimal disruptions and deviations.
  • Ensure that all subordinates adhere to the site safety procedures, and near miss reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality within the scope of the job description.
  • Provide information regarding on-time performance of production activity toward meeting customer timeline requirements.
  • Advice supervisors on resource allocations, to react to high priority and expedited job orders.
  • Interacts with supervisors, and other internal shareholder in problem solving, decision-making, and personnel issues, as it relates to Single-Use Manufacturing.
  • Ensure that production teams and cleanroom lead/senior associates work collaboratively in the decision-making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with the business goals and objectives, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Key Performance Indicator's (KPI), OSHA requirement and current Human Resources (HR) guidelines.
  • Advise the Operations Manager and internal shareholders of major production activities and non-routine changes to the schedule and other applicable information.
  • Defines goals and objectives of the department and subordinates.
  • Develop roadmap for the team to achieve defined goals and objectives.
  • Report on the department's performance and metrics and track KPIs.
  • Evaluate department supervisors and reviews department personnel.
  • Develop morale and motivation to subordinates through positive leadership, sincere interest and recognition, fair appraisals of performance and sound counseling within established Company policies.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools to recommend and implement changes in production area that may result in higher productivity or increased efficiencies that benefit the company, within the Quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Supervise of the Cleanroom Supervisors (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift).
  • Enable and develop supervisors in their managerial skill and personal competency.
  • Review and evaluation of employees' performance.
  • Conducts associate relation investigations and facilitates effective communications and collaborative problem-solving strategies to prevent or resolve associate relations issues.

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or related experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership responsibility in manufacturing, assembly and/or packaging operations desired.
  • Experience in a GMP & FDA regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment is preferred.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with assembly/production processes and applications within similar industry preferred.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, assembly instructions, and drawings.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP System software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good team building and personnel management skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$78,000.00 - $125,350.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
