Job description

Streamlight is looking for a Product Line Manager for our professional lighting tools. The Product Line Manager will be responsible for translating ideas into strategy and features, coordinating, and organizing new product development and providing market positioning direction that will ensure high ROI.  Will be responsible for identifying customer driven new and existing product opportunities, defining product concepts and vision, and driving development solutions across departments.  Plans, organizes and guides assigned product lines from conception through product life cycle for optimal profits and to achieve marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives. Will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Innovation, Engineering, Materials, and other departments as required creating and defining strategic product plans that include product features/benefits, go-to-market strategy, product launch, product positioning, forecast development and pricing. **This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in our Eagleville, PA  office
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Represent the voice of the end user customer with Streamlight’s product-related projects and processes.
  • Define end user requirements and ensure that the Product Management Team maintains an external focus and connection to these requirements through on-going visits to customers, trade shows and focus groups.
  • Direct a comprehensive product strategy from product conception, definition, pricing, forecast development and product launch through the end of product life cycle.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of existing and future technology trends/advances affecting the industry and their potential application.
  • Develop and implement product strategies designed to meet customers’ needs and expectations, keep ahead of the competition and establish distinctive competitive competence.
  • Continuously monitor existing product performance and customer satisfaction to proactively resolve problems and minimize loss or exposure.  
  • Work with various departments including:
    • Marketing Department to drive voice-of-the-customer and develop market message, help develop launch plans, and define positioning statements.
    • Engineering Department to perform competitive analysis and initiate comparison testing activities, identify use/application scenarios and develop product requirement statements.
    • Sales Department to provide channel training, create competitive comparison grids and attend trade shows.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related technical field.  Advanced degree in Business or technology related field preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience in product management role with a proven track record of successfully launching products. In-depth understanding of Product Management principles.
  • Previous International product development experience, specifically, China and/or SE Asia.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple time critical projects in a fast-paced, technology driven environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the consumer and professional product development cycle. Understanding of the supply chain principles.
  • Proven experience in managing the whole product lifecycle, from initial concept to end-of-life.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with senior management and acting as a visionary, champion, and technical expert for the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand technical subjects and emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace; ability to present data and conclusions in an organized manner. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams both functionally and geographically.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and overseas. International travel and work experience is desirable.
