Job description

Eaton's Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Embedded Software Control Manager.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $130000 - $190000 a year.

What you'll do:
The Embedded Software Control Manager leads the design, development, and delivery of embedded control software solutions for complex automotive systems. This role provides technical and people leadership for control algorithms, system modeling, Model-Based Design, software integration, and validation across the full software development lifecycle, while ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable, and compliant control software.
This position provides technical leadership in control software domains, including control algorithms, plant and system modeling, software architecture, and integration across ECU platforms. The role works closely with platform software teams to ensure clear interfaces between control software and underlying base software layers.
The role ensures compliance with industry standards including AUTOSAR, ISO26262, and ASPICE, while driving adoption of modern development practices such as Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink) and CI/CT (Continuous Integration / Continuous Testing) to improve software quality, scalability, and development efficiency.
The position also serves as a key interface to systems, hardware, validation teams, customers, and global engineering centers to support effective collaboration, risk management, and successful delivery of control software in terms of quality, cost, and timing. Up to 25% travel.
Essential Functions:
-Lead the design, development, and delivery of embedded control software for automotive systems across multiple programs.
-Direct control algorithm development, system and plant modeling, simulation, and software integration across ECU platforms.
-Drive Model-Based Design adoption using MATLAB/Simulink, including model development, simulation, auto-code generation, and integration into embedded software.
-Oversee execution across the software V-cycle, including requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, testing, and release.
-Ensure robust control software architecture, performance, scalability, and alignment with platform interfaces including AUTOSAR-based environments.
-Establish and enforce CI/CT practices, including automated build, integration, and validation pipelines to improve software quality and release consistency.
-Ensure compliance with ASPICE, ISO26262, and applicable coding and development standards across control software activities.
-Lead debugging, validation, and optimization activities using simulation, bench, and vehicle-level test environments.
-Manage resource planning, technical priorities, and cross-functional collaboration with systems, hardware, base software, and validation teams.
-Lead customer and stakeholder technical interactions, including design reviews, requirement clarifications, and issue resolution.
-Develop engineering talent through mentoring, coaching, and building technical depth in control software disciplines.
-Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between application software, base software (BSW), systems, hardware, and validation teams.
-Drive software quality and continuous improvement, including metrics tracking, defect resolution, and process enhancements.
-Oversee software integration strategy, release planning, and delivery schedules across programs.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
-Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development, including strong expertise in C/C++ and full software development lifecycle
-Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded control software development using MBD, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink, including model development, simulation, code generation, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, systems, base software, validation, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions meeting program timelines, quality goals, and release commitments.
-Minimum of 5 years of experience of robust system-level debugging, troubleshooting, and validation experience including working knowledge of debugging, trace tools, and industry-standard toolchains (e.g., Vector CANape, CANalyzer, INCA, ETAS tools)

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with automotive product development protocols such as CAN and Ethernet
-Strong experience with ASPICE (Automotive SPICE), including process compliance, audits, and continuous improvement activities
-Experience with microcontroller architecture and low-level driver development for peripheral interfaces such as SPI, I2C, USB, ADC, and digital/analog I/O, AUTOSAR architecture, including ASW/BSW interfaces and RTE
-Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and multi-core processing architecture
-Experience developing software in compliance with MISRA coding standards, also using automation tools such as Jenkins and scripting languages is a plus
-Knowledge of drivetrain and/or powertrain systems, or similar automotive control systems
-Experience with embedded platform components such as bootloaders, hardware abstraction layer (HAL), diagnostics (e.g., multi-wire), file systems, embedded memory management, A/D inputs, and MCAL interfaces
-Familiarity with engineering lifecycle management tools such as IBM Jazz is a plus
Success Criteria:
-Strong project management skills, including the ability to estimate effort, prioritize tasks, manage execution, and report status effectively
-Experience leading model-based development transformation initiatives
-Experience integrating software with target hardware in lab environments
-Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (V-model), including requirements traceability and release governance
-Experience with software change management and release processes in a structured team environment
-Experience with DevSecOps practices in embedded software
