Job description

SUMMARY: BankUnited is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to manage our Channels product team. The Treasury Solutions Product: Head of Channels is a senior vice president level position, responsible for developing the vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercialization of the Channels of our product suite. Our suite of Channels includes Online and Mobile. Additionally, the product manager will be responsible for facilitating and directing both internal and external team collaboration for programs from concept to delivery and be responsible for evaluating product performance, monitoring the competitive landscape, and managing ongoing product enhancements. This role will also provide business resiliency as a backup for the Account Services team and may support Account Services products. The Account Services component includes Information Reporting, Account Reconciliation, Positive Pay, Deposit Insurance, and Escrow Services. This position reports to the Head of Product Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
Product Strategy
  • Defines product strategies, anchored by compelling data, that deliver superior client value and contribute to the firm's objectives.
  • Creates product roadmaps and prioritize programs to support product strategy. Defines approaches and drives key strategic initiatives, including channel migrations.
  • Analyzes emerging trends, market research, competitive analysis, customer feedback, and product/channel metrics to shape strategic direction.
  • Collaborates with existing vendors on strategic opportunities and drive roadmap alignment in support of product strategy.
  • Creates presentations that inform and communicate product vision. Provides monthly promotions to highlight key staff accomplishments.
  • Assists with analysis of pricing and profitability and craft recommendations for opportunities to increase revenue and decrease expenses.

Product Development
  • Defines program scope, authors business cases, and defines user experience for new products and enhancements.
  • Approves business requirements, KPIs and acceptance criteria for prioritized programs.
  • Ensures collaboration with cross-functional teams to capture requirements and account for any impact on the organization.
  • Influences and approves the user experience defined by the program teams.
  • Collaborates with staff to define comprehensive commercialization plans, including sales, implementation, service, billing, and reporting.
  • Ensures effective preparation and presentation by staff of statuses of programs to firmwide stakeholders.
  • Provides transparency to business and technology leadership on project status and risks.
  • Supplements user acceptance testing on feature development.
  • Ensures defects are being managed effectively by vendor(s) and staff.
  • Provides effective communication on product improvements and new feature releases.

Day to Day
  • Collaborates with service representatives, account management, and sales teams to provide subject matter expertise as needed.
  • Handles escalated problems, as needed from internal customers / business partners regarding services and procedures.
  • Actively manages relationships with existing vendors to define and drive exceptional product performance in production.
  • Ensures effective product risk management is practiced by the team and that key risk controls and monitoring are operating effectively.
  • Performs special projects, as assigned by manager.

Talent Management
  • Actively invest in building and developing team members or assist managers to actively define and drive continuous improvement into our operating model.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises function, projects or services and/or one or more employees, as applicable.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in Business Administration or Technology preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in management of Treasury products provided via online and mobile channels.
  • Client portal migration experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of product management, from Strategy to Development to P&L management to BAU oversight.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and design thinking a plus.
  • Fluency in JIRA and familiarity with Bottomline, Fiserv, Salesforce, and nCino products a plus.
  • Familiarity with, and comfort in, a sales environment, supporting our sales team with product-related and strategic discussions with prospects.
