JOB SUMMARY

TekniPlex is hiring a Production Supervisor for our Van Wert, OH facility. This is a day shift role from 4:45 am to 5:00 pm with a rotating 2/2/3 schedule. Direct and coordinate the line manufacturing operations of a department or shift to meet company standards as to SAFETY, quality, quantity, cost, schedules and profitability. Serves as primary conduit for fostering a work environment consistent with company philosophy and objectives. The pay range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000 annually. Pay is based on experience.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a Safe Working Environment: Ensure safety requirements are met and ensure diverse, respectful workplace conditions are adhered to for an overall “safe workplace”
  • Employee Experience: Partner with HR and plant leadership team to attract, embrace, and empower people. Maintain a structure of skilled staffing level to accomplish department mission. Directly supervise, coach, and mentor, & develop production crew, driving & adhering to a “We Grow People” approach to training/growth/development
  • Accelerate Innovation: Understand business needs & goals and transform ideas into action. Lead team through changes & business growth. Encourage open dialogue and sharing of ideas- recognize & reward teams for innovative ideas. Drive a culture of trust, inclusiveness, and celebration of shared ideas for product and/or process improvements
  • Win as a Team: Collaborates with team members in all departments and across all levels of the plant team to develop and install methods, improvements, and cost saving ideas
  • Drive Customer Satisfaction: Works closely with the Plant Manager & Production Manager to drive plant standards, procedures and program plans for achieving and maintaining the required level of product quality

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of forming employees; ensures their ability to SAFELY operate equipment to produce product; Counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary. Develops & mentors shift LEAD to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew
  • Responsible for 40+ employees on shift
  • Be alert to existing and potential production problems and take necessary corrective action
  • Maintain shift reports/records; ensure that necessary operating supplies/materials are on hand
  • Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the manufacturing mission in a SAFE, effective and efficient manner
  • Interview and recommend applicants for hire as forming employees
  • Collaboration with other employees at all levels to develop and install methods, improvements and cost saving ideas
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment
  • Ensures that established company Safety Philosophy, policies, rules, regulations and procedures are followed
  • Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees’ safety, and housekeeping of the area and meeting productions quality and quantity standards on the shift; ensuring compliance with SQF/HACCP policies
  • Off-shift Production Supervisors will coordinate the activities of support department personnel assigned to the same shift
  • Responsible for budgets and business planning for department and responsible for establishing and meeting department goals and objectives

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Servant leadership
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills as well as interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are critical in this position
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
