Quality Control Manager

IMI is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead its Nashville Quality Control team and oversee quality performance across one of the region’s most active construction markets. This role combines hands-on ready-mix concrete expertise with people leadership, giving the successful candidate ownership of the QC function while serving as a trusted technical resource for customers, field teams, and internal operations.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned ready-mix Quality Control professional with deep technical knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and the confidence to independently solve complex quality challenges. The Quality Control Manager will be a key member of IMI’s Nashville leadership group, independently leading the QC function while collaborating closely with Sales and Production.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Quality Control team.
  • Develop the technical and professional capabilities of current QC employees.
  • Take ownership of quality-related projects from initial review through resolution.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for customer and jobsite quality concerns.
  • Promote a proactive approach to quality by identifying potential issues before they escalate.

Technical Quality Management

  • Oversee concrete mix design development and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor concrete performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to field personnel.
  • Manage quality across commercial and residential ready-mix projects.
  • Oversee approximately 5–10 primary projects or quality issues each day.
  • Troubleshoot complex concrete, jobsite, and customer quality challenges.

Customer & Operational Support

  • Resolve customer quality concerns associated with active projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Operations, engineers, customers, and vendors.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain high quality standards throughout IMI’s Nashville-area operations.

Qualifications

Required / Important

  • Significant Quality Control experience within the ready-mix concrete industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ready-mix concrete and quality control practices.
  • Experience managing concrete quality across multiple active projects.
  • Concrete mix design development and troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of cement fundamentals and concrete performance.
  • Experience with concrete testing and specification requirements.
  • Strong jobsite and field troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Appropriate DOT-related knowledge or certification based on IMI’s project requirements.

Preferred

  • Previous people management or team leadership experience.
  • Experience mentoring and developing Quality Control professionals.
  • CIM degree or Concrete Industry Management background.
  • Formal concrete or construction-related education.
  • Experience managing technically demanding construction projects.
