Embassy Ingredients is looking for two (2) Quality Control Technologists. Shift times available below with flexibility to also work on weekends as and when needed:

  • 9:00AM - 5:30PM
  • 1:00PM - 9:30PM
  • 10:00PM - 6:30AM

This position is for a current vacancy with a compensation range of $23.00-25.00/hour.

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technologist is responsible for analytical product testing at various stages of the production process. Ensuring accuracy with all testing conducted, they compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of our products.

This position is also responsible for driving on-site Quality and Lean initiatives in both the laboratory and operations areas. They support all areas of operations and ensure operators are following Quality initiatives and processes at all times. When issues occur in production, they take action and provide immediate support to the operations team by leading all on-site investigations to ensure a safe resolution.

What you are responsible for:

Analytical Testing

  • Tests all samples live and keeps the system up-to-date (100% QC completion rate achieved per shift all samples tested live target within 10 minutes of being produced).
  • Maintains a high level of testing accuracy achieving no less than 99.95% annual testing accuracy rate.
  • Conducts the issuance and posting for all MO's and flags any inventory discrepancies to the Director of Food Safety and Quality for Investigation.
  • Conducts positive release of inventory that has pass Quality testing.
  • Leads all aspects of the facility hold/re-blend program. For each hold that occurs (or expired item placed on hold), QC must:
  • Place item on hold (physically and in the system) the same day the hold occurs.
  • Send a hold notification to the team
  • Coordinates a full investigation and creates an opportunity case
  • Leads re-blend trials (working closely with R&D) and sets up the re-blend in the system.
  • Will maintain and monitor all internal hold inventory (conducting inventory counts and adjustments when needed)
  • Ensures the physical hold area is being maintained in a clean and tidy state. Ensures holds are organized and correctly labelled.
  • Will stop the line if needed to prevent a major food safety risk or repeat hold.
  • Ensures all failed batches are retested immediately (once the production line has been controlled).

On-Site Leadership

  • Completes daily QC on site verifications and supplier approval verifications.
  • Supports and leads operational lean initiatives.
  • Works closely with production operators to ensure they understand and are following all Quality & Food Safety Processes.
  • Provide additional Quality and Food Safety training to the operations team as required
  • Is an immediate support function for all operations issues found.
  • Ensures a high sense of urgency is placed on keeping production running uninterrupted in a safe manner.
  • Works closely with operators to lead all Quality Related Investigations. Completes all Quality Related Investigations within 48hours of the incident occurring.
  • Prepares and maintains all dry production labels. Ensures labels are available ready for production.
  • Sends out daily Quality/Production report takes full ownership for the content and accuracy of the report and must work closely with operations to ensure it is completed.

Other

  • Supports all Quality Lean Initiatives.
  • Helps develop and maintain all QC-related SOPs.
  • Completes all assigned planner tasks before the due date. If an extension is needed it must be requested.
  • Supports the expired item project for the dry and flavour side.
  • Ensures all retain samples and MO's are stored in a safe place and in an organized manner.
  • Ensures the QC laboratories are maintained in a clean and customer-facing state at all times (including when testing).
  • Is an expert in all Quality Related electronic systems including spec database, SharePoint, Office 365, Dynamics CRM, Business Central and Planner.
  • Supports all food safety initiatives, including (but not limited to) BRCGS, HACCP, GMPs, Allergens, GFCP, Kosher, Halal, Customer Requirements (Such as Costco standards and Kraft Standards).
  • Ensure all activities maintain the food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality of our products.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or additional duties may be assigned at any time.

  • College diploma or university degree in Chemistry, Food Science or Microbiology Excellent computer, reporting, and time management skills.
  • 3 years related experience quality control.
