Job description

The Production Control Specialist is responsible for raw material receiving, customer shipment scheduling, logistics, and inventory control. This role will arrange customer shipments according to customer demand and production planning; and track inventory changes, working alongside the operations and warehouse teams. They have responsibilities that include overseeing inventory control where they keep detailed records of any changes in inventory or production and report changes to the proper internal and external stakeholders. Automotive experience is preferred.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Customer shipment scheduling and changes.
  • Facilitating logistics, LTL and expedites with trucking companies.
  • Overall accuracy and efficiency of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Warehouse teams to monitor and ensure stock levels within the inventory system.
  • Ensure inventory records are current and up to date.
  • Place product on hold with issues to be reviewed by upper management.
  • Monitor and meet established inventory levels and report the result of production and inventory balances.
  • Utilize the ERP system and other applications to maintain shipment and steel receiving work documents.
  • Accountable for all Inventory Control functions including but not limited to cycle counts, location verifications, error reporting, short ships, order cancellations, product orders, racks, etc.
  • Assist with data entry work on annual physical inventory and assist with research, adjustments, and discrepancies.
  • Compile inventory reports and complete month-end and year-end reconciliation processes.
  • Work with PC management to plan, coordinate, organize and conduct physical inventories for any periodic cycle or annual count processes.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders, including Accounting and Purchasing, to ensure seamless process flows with the rest of the business.
  • Provide feedback to Customers, Production Control & Sales management to ensure inventory is being received by customers accurately and in good condition.
  • Communicate with the PC manager, supervisor and warehouse coordinator to ensure usage of the storage layout is efficient.
  • Lead and follow company safety initiatives and ensure a culture of safety.


Qualifications include:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in a supply chain, customer orders, releases in EDI and ASN.
  • Understanding business operations with production control and logistics.
  • Knowledge of material flow in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management and problem solving with emphasis on manufacturing operations.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy and meeting customer deadlines.
  • Exercises discretion and judgement related to production planning directly affecting business.
  • Effective leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in Power BI, ERP and SharePoint.
  • Steel, Forging, Automotive experience is preferred but not required.
