Overview

The Assistant Fabrication Production Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Fabrication Manager or Production Coordinator in leading and coordinating the day-to-day activities of pipe fabrication operation. This includes assisting with directing, and assigning tasks to support production personnel work fronts. Responsible for ensuring all work orders are processed in a uniform and acceptable manner to meet delivery schedules, and quality standards. Assist in professional development for all levels of the workforce within areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

Coordinates production materials, activities and/or processes as schedules demand. Works with other departments to determine and resolve factors affecting the production process. Assist in establishing employee and shop performance metrics. Estimates material or labor requirements to ensure adequate resources are available. Prepare estimates and quotes for fabrication orders received and prospective fabrication orders, respectively. Create and/or update shop orders in JDE with appropriate work centers, bill of materials and estimates. Schedule fabrication and determine promise dates and modify fabrication schedules based on feedback of production capacity and expected material delivery and update promise dates as required. Reschedule fabrication based on priority and new orders received while ensuring schedule accommodates previously communicated promise dates. Ensure acknowledgements for fabrication and promise dates are provided to customers, where applicable.

Coordinate with managers to ensure Spool, BOM and Cut lists or CAM Files and Detail Tickets are received along with other appropriate Information for production, estimating and scheduling. Ensure updates are made to Smartsheet for statuses that feed to customers through Power Bl. Direct others and/or assist in preparing production books, labels and documents for the work centers on the production floor. Generate requisitions for materials purchased to order. Promote Inventory processes to ensure accuracy of inventory data including inventory on hand, minimum and maximum Inventory levels, timely requisition of inventory and appropriate charging to projects. Update estimates and shop orders and generate material requisitions for revisions that may arise before or during fabrication. Ensure timely and accurately posting of material costs and labor hours and costs to shop orders and projects. Champion knowledge and training related to utilization of JDE for all aspects of the fabrication process. Interface with IT, JDE consultants and internal team to ensure accurate data and functionality of JDE, Smartsheet and Power Bl. Prepare and create reports related to metrics and productivity to assist fabrication managers in making decisions to improve performance1 productivity, efficiency, and profitability. Liaison with internal technical leads to resolve any questions or contradictions. Develop and maintain a documented and comprehensive project specific communication tracking process. Educate internal operations team members on how to effectively liaison with fabrication spooling to get the best product for each project. Review detailing spool packages and Cam files and liaison with appropriate functions to resolve any errors or discrepancies through the job set up cycle of a project or fab request. Identifies opportunities and coordinates with management to improve process flows and project execution Manages resources and inventory as required to ensure traceability of commodities accurately Provides oversight of the shipping calendar for logistics planning and resources to meet project commitments
