Job description

Restaurant Depot FSQA Testing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced FSQA Testing Specialist to join our expanding Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team at our East Coast Headquarters. This role will collaborate closely with internal teams and third-party laboratories to evaluate product results and ensure all quality, safety, and regulatory standards are consistently met.


Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and enhance company testing strategies and objectives.
  2. Initiate, receive, interpret, and communicate testing results, defining clear next steps for both internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Support the procurement, analysis, and final evaluation of product quality to ensure specification alignment and regulatory compliance.
  4. Manage communication with third-party laboratories, inspection agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding result interpretation, comparisons, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and next steps.
  5. Partner with buying teams to conduct internal product evaluations and support post-RFP (Request for Proposal) testing processes.
  6. Develop and implement training tools, data collection systems, and processes to support national testing programs and continuous improvement initiatives


Expectations:

  1. Demonstrate technical knowledge of food and non-food product testing methodologies (preferred).
  2. Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to timely completion.
  3. Handle a high volume of testing reports while improving compliance verification, monitoring processes, and internal escalation procedures.
  4. Support and contribute to key performance metrics and departmental goals.
  5. Maintain strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality


Experience & Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field.
  2. 2+ years of experience in food safety, quality control, or import operations (preferred).
  3. Working knowledge of HACCP, product control, and general food safety requirements.
  4. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to high professional ethical standards.
  5. Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across buying (procurement), accounts payable, logistics, branch teams, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
