Job description

The Sourcing Leader is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships for critical raw material categories that support the Roofing, Nonwovens, and Insulation businesses. Leading a Sourcing professional and rotational talent, this role drives value creation, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and supplier performance through close partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and key business stakeholders. The position oversees approximately $500MM in enterprise spend and works with Sourcing Finance and the Sourcing COE to deliver sustainable value through strategic supplier management and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Sourcing Director, Roofing SPOC, Global Packaging & Minerals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Delivery
  • The Sourcing Leader will have overall accountability for the sourcing strategy, supply continuity, supplier performance, risk management, and cost competitiveness of assigned raw material categories across the enterprise. This position will leverage market expertise, supplier relationships, and cross-functional influence to ensure reliable supply while delivering value creation, operational excellence, and long-term business sustainability.
  • Success in this role will require strong alignment with Operations, Manufacturing, Science & Technology, Product Stewardship, Sustainability, Finance, and Legal partners to support enterprise business objectives and strategic growth initiatives.
  • This position will oversee supplier relationships, negotiations, and commercial frameworks while ensuring appropriate contracting strategies are established to mitigate supply, commercial, and operational risk. The Sourcing Leader will work closely with Legal to develop and maintain agreements that balance risk, flexibility, and business needs, including determining when long-term contracts, strategic partnerships, or spot purchases are appropriate.
  • The Sourcing Leader will collaborate with Finance and business stakeholders to identify, validate, and track value creation initiatives while aligning sourcing strategies with operational requirements, customer expectations, and long-range business objectives.

Development and Execution of Strategy
  • Develop and execute category strategies that ensure secure, competitive, and sustainable sources of supply while minimizing operational, geopolitical, market, and sole-source risks. Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships that support enterprise growth, innovation, and operational performance.
  • The Sourcing Leader has overall responsibility for developing sourcing strategies that are thoughtfully analyzed and supported by market intelligence with focused insight on:
    • Global and regional supply and demand dynamics
    • Commodity and specialty raw material market trends
    • Feedstock, energy, transportation, and logistics impacts
    • Supplier financial health and risk monitoring
    • Sustainability and environmental impacts of sourcing decisions
    • Supplier development and strategic partnership opportunities
    • Long-term capacity planning and business continuity
    • Value Creation Initiatives (VCI) and other relevant business metrics
    • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization
  • Strategic direction will be developed through close alignment with business leaders, Operations, Manufacturing, Science & Technology, Finance, Sustainability, and Global Sourcing leadership to ensure sourcing decisions support both short-term operational requirements and long-term enterprise objectives.
  • This position will be expected to regularly brief senior leadership on market conditions, supplier performance, risk assessments, sourcing strategies, and value creation opportunities. Responsibilities include:
    • Monitoring market conditions and understanding impacts on Owens Corning's cost structure and operations.
    • Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity.
    • Maximizing supplier relationships to drive value, innovation, service, and operational performance.
    • Leading commercial negotiations and supplier performance management initiatives.
    • Identifying and executing value creation opportunities through sourcing, logistics, process improvements, and supplier collaboration.
    • Supporting capital projects, business growth initiatives, and new product development through supplier engagement and sourcing expertise.
    • Participating in leadership teams and cross-functional governance processes related to assigned spend categories.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering or related subject required
  • At least 5 years of work experience in Manufacturing or Science/Technology.

Experience:
  • Demonstrated rate of growth and success in prior roles
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in a fast-paced and dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Understanding of manufacturing supply chains, including cost structures, transportation, and risk.
  • Demonstrated effective communicator/ presenter.
  • Problem solving and decision making through analytics and data
  • Demonstrated negotiating acumen- inclusive of understanding leverage and value creation.

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated analytical ability
  • Proven ability to think and execute strategically
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and relationship skills are necessary to work with a diverse spectrum of suppliers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making through analyzing data
  • Ability to work with all orgizational levels both internally and externally
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% of the time
