Job description

Spira Manufacturing is seeking a Customer Service Intern to learn the full inside-sales and customer-service process, from first customer contact through order shipment. This intern will support day-to-day customer inquiries and order activity while partnering with Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, Operations, Quality, Materials, and Outside Sales to deliver responsive, accurate service and identify opportunities to improve workflows.
The Sales team works closely with customers and cross-functional partners to review requirements, contracts, pricing, order details, and delivery schedules. This internship provides hands-on exposure to those workflows, with coaching and verification from the Customer Service team.
This internship runs Tuesday, 09/08/26 - end of December (12-16 weeks) and requires 20-40 hours per week.

Job Accountabilities:
• Complete required Epicor and EDGE training and learn how these systems support customer service and sales operations.
• Observe and assist Customer Service Representatives with order review, customer requirements, contract review, pricing, and coordination with Operations for scheduling.
• Respond to customer questions and support inquiries through phone, email, or chat within required timeframes, with work reviewed by the Customer Service team.
• Maintain a tracked log of resolved customer-support tickets and summarize recurring complaints, feature requests, and potential product or process issues.
• Create or organize reusable email and chat macros, templates, FAQs, and response guidance to support consistent and efficient replies.
• Review current workflows and help update standard operating procedures and troubleshooting documentation when improvements are identified.
• Escalate complex, technical, or high-priority issues to the appropriate senior team member using established protocols.
• Prepare weekly performance summaries covering KPI progress, customer pain points, learning milestones, and project status.
• Deliver an end-of-internship presentation to leadership with a process-improvement recommendation based on recurring customer feedback.
Job Specifications:
Education: Currently enrolled in high school, college, university, or a relevant career/technical program; coursework or interest in business, sales, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
Years' Experience: No prior professional experience required. Customer service, sales, administrative, or team-based project experience is helpful.
Skills:
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication with a customer-focused approach.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage records and action items.
• Willingness to learn ERP and business systems, including Epicor and EDGE, and to follow documented processes.
• Ability to collaborate respectfully with Customer Service and cross-functional partners including Engineering, Finance, Operations, Quality, Materials, and Outside Sales.
• Curiosity and initiative to identify recurring issues, suggest practical improvements, and present findings clearly.
• Comfort using email, chat, word-processing, and spreadsheet tools; able to protect customer and company information.
