Sample6 is building an on-site monitoring system that will revolutionize the way we monitor and control environmental health and safety, starting in the food industry and envisioning broad market penetration in areas such as retail, health and ultimately consumer applications. Sample6's technology is the world's first "near real-time" environmental diagnostic system and enables unprecedented process control throughout the food supply and production chain. The company has been funded with over $8M in equity/debt capital from top investors including Flybridge Capital Partners, Chevron Technology Ventures, Horizon Technology Finance, Founder Collective, The Kraft Group and Boston University.
The Product Manager
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager who is passionate about commercializing breakthrough technologies that meaningfully improve health and safety in food production. The Product Manager has an entrepreneurial mindset and will help bring a first-of-its-kind diagnostic platform to market, absorbing a broad set of technologies in the process. The main responsibility of the Product Manager is ownership of the cloud-based data management platform. They will also participate in developing the whole product concept of data analytics and test. The Product Manager will be at the center of customer interaction and will manage a pilot partner program, seeking input from the field on the software and workflow, while closely monitoring industry dynamics. It is the Product Managers responsibility to understand customer requirements and work with engineering on an agile development program. The candidate must be an outstanding communicator, capable of adeptly interfacing with customers, learn and document workflows and use cases.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage the development and deployment of the software prototype
    • Customer requirement mapping, prioritization, workflow and use case development.
    • Be the product management lead in an agile development program, from prototype through release.
    • Manage the customer-facing side of the Alpha and Beta programs
      • Create metrics to track and improve customer usage, satisfaction, and efficiency with the product.
      • Identify and build relationships with thought leaders and market influencers.
      • Help draft whitepapers and other marketing collateral to support sales efforts.
      • Assist the sales team by providing deeper technical and product support.
      • Develop a profound understanding of market trends and customer needs
      • Identify comparable and competitive products and model workflows, feature sets etc.
      • BS, MS in a relevant field
      • 3-5+ years PM in web or enterprise software
      • Exposure to agile development programs preferred
      • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
      • Early stage company and product development experience
      • Knowledge of Life Sciences/Food Safety markets a plus
