Product Manager 

Position Summary 

The Product Manager is responsible for managing the growth and profitability of a specified product portfolio through the entire life cycle of the products, in alignment with and in support of the business objectives of the Composite Materials GBU. This is accomplished through considerable communication and coordination with multiple GBU functions (Commercial, Industrial, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and R&I) utilizing expert-level influencing and impact skills. 

The PM position reports directly to the Product Line Director.  

Key Responsibilities 

Develop the vision and strategy - long-term growth & profitability 

  • Act as a cross-functional product hub  

  • Develop a customer-centric product line strategy aligned with input from (among other functions) Sales, Customer Engineering, Marketing, R&I, and Industrial and Asset Management  

  • Support & champion product line innovation & development & drive/coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI). 

  • Engage Strategic Purchasing to manage sourcing risks of key raw materials 

  • Drive continuous improvement in product lines simplification including product and asset rationalization 

  • Institutionalize rapid decision making and information conveyance 

Define, capture and maintain value - tactical analysis & execution 

  • Decide on product guidelines: Pricing, quality range, service levels, inventory guidelines 

  • Support definition and implementation of R&I and industrial improvement priorities, based on market & operations input; including new product development and capex projects 

  • Lead cross-functional project teams to execute key elements of the product line strategy. (ie. CapEx, Product Commercialization, Portfolio Simplification) 

  • Manage product line profitability at the contribution and gross margin levels 

  • Actively participate and support commercial excellence initiatives  

  • Execute the product line roadmap and manage activities to align with overall manufacturing footprint strategy.  

  • Develop internal production strategies (with Global Planners) to maintain required customer service levels. 

  • Lead the product allocation process in the event of capacity constraints (with Global Planners and Commercial) 

  • Assist in the prioritization and ensure execution of plant level GMO activities   Monitor product portfolio health (product setup, optimization and rationalization) 

  • Drive with Global Quality broader product line's customer complaint investigations. Ensure quality issues are followed through and addressed (including resite work) and lead product quality initiatives that increase the Customer Experience 

Minimum Education 

- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Finance or related 

- MBA or marketing-related graduate degree a plus 

Skills 

- 5 plus years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, tech development, R&I, marketing, finance or commercial 

- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels inside and outside the company; developing close working relationships with key stakeholders 

- Self-motivated, takes initiative and is able to work multiple priorities at once 

- Excellent leadership, communication, coordination and influencing skills 

- Demonstrated skills in participative decision making and collaborative problem solving 

- Experience in consolidating data, analyzing, and reporting results in a succinct and impactful way 

- Understanding of manufacturing costs, process analysis and data tools 

- Experience with investment analysis and financial cost modeling 

- Ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time (regional and international). 

Preferred location is US or Europe co-located at one of the Composite Materials GBU's manufacturing facilities.   

You will get:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $112,000  to 159,600 per year.Since actual compensation packages ar based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
