Job description

Product Manager II (Energy Management & Home Automation)

Alarm.com is the leading cloud-based platform for smart security and IoT. Our meaningful work gives property and business owners peace of mind, helps them conserve energy and water, and keeps them connected to loved ones and their businesses.

Do you excel when you are in the middle of a challenging project? Thrive when things get complex? If you are someone who wants to work on interesting technologies and develop award-winning consumer products while working with smart and collaborative team members, Alarm.com is for you!

Very few companies allow you to work across as broad a range of technologies as Alarm.com. As a member of the Energy Management and Home Automation team, you'll work to create new user experiences for homeowners and professional installers across iOS, Android, and web. You'll also get hands-on with technology tied to those UI/UX flows including ultra-low power and long-range IoT RF, edge computing, market-leading automation protocols, and machine learning-driven big data analytics.

On top of that, Alarm.com offers a friendly culture with smart and productive co-workers who are committed to delivering an outstanding experience.

Responsibilities

As a Product Manager II, you will be expected to:

* Be the go-to subject-matter expert for your product areas. Have extensive knowledge of how our dealers and their customers use our products based on first-hand experience installing, troubleshooting, and using them.

* Manage a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, ensuring their needs are met despite competing demands on team resources.

* Utilize clear analytical thinking and communication that aligns project teams on the most critical next steps at each point in a product's lifecycle.

* Motivate teams to deliver their best work and release products with minimal timeline slip while maintaining an unwavering commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience.

* Do whatever is needed to drive product support across its life cycle. This includes writing product specifications, testing new features, soliciting customer and dealer feedback, creating documentation including marketing materials, overseeing quality assurance efforts, and supporting existing products.

* Disseminate information based on a detailed understanding of how our home automation functionality works. This includes low-level firmware operation, cloud-based data aggregation, and information distribution to user interfaces and third parties.

* Ensure revenue, customer satisfaction, and adoption goals are met for your projects.

* Work with engineering, support, sales, business intelligence, and high-profile partners to resolve product issues.

* Plan the go-to-market strategy for new products – collaborate with engineering, sales, supply chain, data science, and other teams. Educate stakeholders and deliver product presentations.

* Conduct market research and outline proposals for delivering new product lines.

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with Alarm.com's technology partners, all while identifying new players for our team to partner with that add value to our platform while minimizing additional overhead.

* Champion enhancements to existing products that drive enduring platform value.

* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

* 1-4 years in product management with a track record of managing and launching successful products.

* Grit, and the will to dig in and persevere in the pursuit of long-term goals.

* Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.

* Proven ability to successfully lead multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills featuring attention to detail without losing sight of overarching objectives and what's truly important.

* Passion for consumer technology and interest in developing a deep understanding of complex products and technologies.

* Effective computer skills (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as at least a basic understanding of how to use AI and a strong desire to learn more).

* General knowledge of business, economics and/or finance.

* Strong academic performance with a B.E., B.S., BA, or other more advanced degree.

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

* Electrical engineering, computer programming, computer networking

* Agentic development

* Math and statistics

* RF technologies, cellular/wireless technology, and smart home automation
