Position Summary

As Product Manager, you will be the owner/advocate of your product line. You will be responsible for increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products. You will build products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your interactions with market managers, outside sales and customers. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy. You must enjoy spending time in the business collaborating with other parts of the organization to understand customers’ problems and lead other departments in the efforts to find innovative solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with engineering counterparts to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external champion for your product offering, working with the inside and outside sales, sales channels, operations, other departments, and key customers.

  • Understands and supports successful product line and product family strategies, including growth, product rationalizations and consolidation efforts.
  • Develops robust recommendations on future product direction.
  • Understands market size, growth rate, trends and market share associated with the product line.
  • Mentors other Product Managers and Product Specialists on best practices
  • Be recognized internally and externally as a knowledgeable resource on applications, needs analysis and best product fit.
  • Clearly understands and can communicate a compelling value proposition for each product.
  • Captures new opportunities and initiates development or engineering projects through justifiable business cases that support the strategy.
  • Manages the “cradle-to-grave” product lifecycle.
  • Establishes and maintains pricing strategies while optimizing margins and ROI.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to product planning, including S&OP, demand planning, inventory, and lead times.
  • Recommends product manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Operations.
  • Generates successful product launches in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Collects and analyzes competitor product offerings, pricing, market positioning and develops counter-selling strategies against specific competitive products.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of technical aptitude and competence and can clearly articulate technical information, applications and solution fit.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of product management experience.
  • Exposure to, or experience in, the telecommunications industry is preferred.
  • Soft skills a must—must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be tech savvy and able to read and understand product drawings.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to be continually proactive.
Language and People Skills

Must always be able to communicate in a professional manner. This role is working with people daily; you must be a good listener and be able to analyze and problem solve quickly.

Computer Skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office 365, including Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Salesforce, Tableau, and Teamwork experience is beneficial.
Physical Demands

This employee must be able to move 75 pounds, and must be able to sit, stand, and type.

Work Environment

An employee in this position spends time in an office environment interfacing through multiple mediums serving internal and external customers. May travel up to 50%.

Compensation

Pay Range: $100K - $120K
