Job description

Senior Product Manager

We built this category in 1993. Today, our products are used millions of times a year. Now we're looking for a Product Manager to help define what's next.

We are transportation changemakers committed to improving the well-being of people and the planet. Sportworks is accelerating active and multimodal transportation to be the natural choice for everyday life, and as Senior Product Manager, you'll be the one driving that shift forward. You'll own the roadmap for our bike storage and transport portfolio as it evolves from industry-leading mechanical products into integrated electrical and connected systems. Every decision you make here helps people choose a bike over a car, and helps build more transit systems designed around the people who ride them.

You'll work at the intersection of customer insight, technology, and business strategy, bringing cyclists, transit agencies, vehicle manufacturers, and architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) stakeholders together around one shared vision. You'll balance sustaining improvements with bold innovation, driving the growth and market leadership that set the pace for where this industry goes next.

Since 1990, Sportworks has designed and engineered bike transit solutions that connect people and cities, from the industry's first Bike-Rack-for-Buses in 1993 to today's rail and micro-mobility systems. Millions of people use our products every month. We don't settle for the status quo: we're constantly pushing our engineering, our technology, and our partnerships with transit agencies forward to make active transportation safer, easier, and more accessible for everyone.

Sportworks became part of the Silver Falls Capital portfolio in December 2021, where we're Connected with Purpose. Silver Falls Capital companies solve meaningful problems that positively impact the world, and Silver Falls Capital takes a long-term approach to helping the businesses and teams it acquires reach their full potential.

Our Culture: The Silver Falls Way

Culture isn't something we bolted on, it's how we work. We call it The Silver Falls Way, five values that guide everything we do: Purpose, People, Truth, Humility, and Possibility. Our culture is what sets us apart: it's how we attract people who care, keep them for the long term, and turn that commitment into better products and better outcomes for our customers. In practice, that means we invest in our people, empowering them to think big, take risks, and grow into their full potential, and we expect honesty and candor from everyone, ourselves included. Are you energized by ownership, continuous improvement, and the chance to leave something better than you found it? If so, you'll find a place here that hears your ideas, supports your growth, and gives your work visible impact.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Obtain from market research and/or customer interviews and insights, a deep knowledge of the customer workflows, infrastructure requirements and constraints, and unmet needs. Incorporate learnings into product roadmap, commercial strategy, internal projects, processes, and standard work. Translate these learnings into market segmentation and compelling customer value propositions.
  • Own the strategy and execution of product life cycle management, business model, positioning, profitability and revenue growth and portfolio optimization while championing product quality and service to our customers.
  • Partner with sales, service, and customers as a technical resource to resolve product questions and support successful deployments.
  • Plan and execute product demonstrations and trade shows, managing strategy, logistics, setup, on-site operations.
  • Create, maintain, update, and manage adherence of established standard work to support best practices for all product management aspects (new product introduction, internal product training, obsolescence, etc.)
  • Participate in industry standards development and rulemaking processes relevant to Sportworks products.
  • Drive strategic supply chain and industry partnership development.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, marketing, business administration, engineering, or computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of previous experience in a product management role, managing multiple simultaneous full product life cycles.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and forecasting for product portfolios.
  • Experience with digital / SaaS connected products.
  • Proficient with standard office software including ERP, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite.
  • High attention to detail, with a track record of managing multiple concurrent product launches on time and within budget, across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • We prefer alignment and experience within a lean product development environment.
  • Hardware development experience
  • Global expansion experience

Location: You'll work from our Monroe, WA headquarters every workday. Our work is hands-on. We solve real manufacturing and operational challenges together and stay close to what our customers need, in real time, and we've found that happens best when we're in the same building. Being in person is core to how we move quickly, serve our customers well, and stay connected as a team.

Travel: This role requires domestic and international travel to customer and partner locations and trade shows approximately 5-12 travel events per year. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.

Compensation & Benefits: In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support the health and wellbeing of our employees.

Benefits include:

  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage (with employer contribution to each)
  • Simple IRA with 3% employer match
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Life Insurance and AD&D plans
  • ORCA Passport benefit for new hires

More About Sportworks: At Sportworks, we're transforming the way people move, creating transportation solutions that benefit the well-being of people and the planet. As champions of active and multimodal transportation, we're on a mission to transform the status quo by connecting journeys seamlessly with innovative products and technology. Since launching the first commercial bike rack for buses in 1993, we've partnered with transit authorities, municipalities, advocates, and those creating our built world, to promote healthier, more sustainable mobility options. Trusted worldwide, our solutions connect bus, rail, and cycling networks, and communities alike.
