Product Manager - Accounting & Finance

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Hybrid
Florida is preferred, although we're open to considering candidates based further afield depending on experience and suitability.

Description

Pinewood.AI is seeking a driven, collaborative, and commercially minded Product Manager to lead the development of our Accounting functionality within our Automotive Intelligence Platform. This is a key role within our Product Team, focused on building smart, integrated solutions that help automotive retailers improve financial control, operational efficiency, compliance, and profitability.

As part of the team shaping the future of our platform, you'll work closely with Project Delivery Managers, Developers, Support, Account Management, and commercial teams to translate dealership needs, accounting requirements, and market opportunities into impactful software features. You'll become the go-to subject matter expert for your product area, helping shape the roadmap, prioritise development, and communicate the value of what we build both internally and externally.

We're open to people who have taken different routes into product. You might already be an experienced Product Manager or Product Owner with knowledge of automotive accounting, or you could be an experienced dealership accounting or finance professional with strong systems knowledge who is interested in moving into a product-focused role. What matters is a strong understanding of dealership accounting, an aptitude for technology, and the ability to turn real-world customer problems into practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

    • Own and develop the product vision and roadmap for Accounting functionality, aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and the requirements of the North American automotive retail market.
    • Build deep expertise in dealership accounting workflows and act as a subject matter expert for your product area across the business.
    • Work with Project Delivery Managers and Developers to define, refine, and prioritise deliverables using clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Collaborate with Account Management and Partner Support teams to gather feedback, understand dealership needs, identify opportunities, and resolve product issues.
    • Translate accounting requirements, customer feedback, market insight, and relevant regulatory change into clear and practical product requirements.
    • Own and maintain a prioritised feature backlog, balancing customer value, commercial impact, financial and regulatory requirements, risk, and technical considerations.
    • Sign off new functionality and ensure high-quality releases that deliver clear value for customers.
    • Engage with technical teams to provide context and direction on functionality, ensuring solutions meet requirements and are technically feasible.
    • Represent your product area in customer, partner, and manufacturer discussions, gathering market insight and communicating our product direction and value.
    • Act as an internal champion for your product, communicating progress, releases, and product value while using customer feedback and product performance to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

    • Strong experience and knowledge of accounting within an automotive retail or dealership environment, with a good understanding of dealership accounting processes, systems, and financial workflows.
    • We're open to candidates from different professional backgrounds. You may already be a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar, or you may be an experienced automotive accounting professional looking to move into a product-focused role.
    • Strong understanding of accounting processes such as general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliation, financial reporting, transaction processing, and month-end activities.
    • Knowledge of US accounting requirements and financial controls, including familiarity with US GAAP and the accounting and tax considerations that affect automotive retailers.
    • A strong understanding of how dealership accounting requirements translate into systems, processes, and day-to-day user workflows.
    • Experience working with software development teams, technology projects, or within a SaaS environment would be advantageous, but is not essential for candidates bringing strong automotive accounting and systems expertise.
    • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to assess priorities based on customer needs, business value, risk, and operational impact.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting requirements clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of dealership management systems, accounting software, sales tax, payment processing, financial integrations, or relevant regulatory and compliance requirements would be advantageous.

Benefits

  • A very competitive salary
  • Excellent bonus scheme
  • Flexible mix of home and office working
  • 4 weeks PTO
  • 401k
  • Excellent health insurance benefits
  • Regular 1-2-1s and career development opportunities
