Job Purpose of the Production Machine Operator
The Production machine operator is responsible for producing the product according to specifications to include machine start up procedures, line speed adjustments, material checks and quality standards in every product we make. The machine operator is responsible for tracking waste, reporting machine issues, participates in team huddles and helps drive improvement within the production team.

Responsibilities of the Production Machine Operator

  • Maintaining a clean machine and work area
  • Following all applicable safety policies and procedures
  • Following all GMP's and General Food Safety Requirements
  • Following all food Defense Procedures
  • Checking seal integrity of the package
  • Posting visual standards and maintaining visual standards
  • Monitoring weight and adjusting weight according to Net Content Procedures
  • Loading Lids
  • Loading Film and maintaining records of applicable lots
  • Loading spices and maintaining records of applicable lots
  • Monitoring and recording all stoppages on the line
  • Participate in process improvement activities
  • Participate in team forums, huddles and escalation sessions
  • Following other duties as required
  • Monitoring Metal Detection and maintaining applicable record

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the Production Machine Operator

  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to adjust stations, drivers, and parameters to produce and maintain product to specification
  • Demonstrated ability to perform change-over of size, hummus and topping flavors
  • Demonstrated ability to understand common machine faults and correct
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to complete shift paperwork completely and in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to clean and restart machine after jam
  • Demonstrated understanding of importance of safety and quality procedures and programs
  • Solid communication skills to interface regularly with production, maintenance and quality

Quality and Food safety Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the Production Machine Operator

  • Apply and enforce all quality & food safety programs in accordance with regulatory requirements, FSSC 22000 standard, customers and Tribe requirements.
  • Take necessary measures when there is deviation from policies and standards.
  • Participate and recommend solutions to common quality & food safety issues.
  • Take action to continuously improve his/her process targets.
  • Adhere/ follow the food safety programs in the department including GMPs, HACCP plan, and PRPs.
  • Properly carry out the OPRP metal detector monitoring (For Operators on lines 79/PA3/PA4/PA5/P80-81)
  • Properly carry out the OPRP Label monitoring.

Education and Experience of the Production Machine Operator

  • Experience in food processing and packaging preferred
  • High school diploma required

Training Requirements:

  • General Safety.
  • Quality System Awareness.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, bend and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Work Environment:
  • Plant environment
  • Regular exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
