The Senior Manager, Product Engineering - Booked guest is responsible for leading cross-functional software engineering teams in the design, development, and delivery of high-scale enterprise digital products across web, mobile, and backend microservices platforms. This role drives technical strategy, delivery execution, architectural modernization, and engineering culture while partnering closely with Product Management, UX, and Operations leadership. Experience in Salesforce Commerce Cloud is required for this role.

This role will drive digital innovation and technical strategy for our guest-facing web applications. It encompasses ownership of the customer online experience portfolio, which includes vacation search capabilities, cruise reservations, reservation amend functionality, pre-cruise purchases, and content management systems.

To excel in this role, deep technical expertise in building modern, responsive web applications, setting standards for the organization, and building the proper architecture is essential. A customer mindset, positive relationships throughout the organization, and excellent delivery are key attributes for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, direct, and mentor engineering managers, technical leads, and full-stack software engineers. Drive hiring, career development, performance management, and resource allocation across product delivery pods.
  • Delivery Execution & Architecture: Partner with Product Management and Architecture to transform business vision into technical roadmaps. Oversee modern full-stack implementation (React, React Native, GraphQL, .NET APIs, Cloud infrastructure).
  • Oversee multiple software engineering teams in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software solutions, while ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Use engineering principles to conduct technical investigations involved with the modification of material; component; or process specifications and requirements.
  • Responsible for all aspects of eCommerce Web product engineering – including vacation smart search, cruise online reservations, amend reservations, pre-cruise purchases and CMS modules to drive innovation and increase direct and onboard revenue.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners (ie PMO, IT, Enterprise Architeture, Marketing, Security and Data teams) to ensure technology alignment, product success and predictable delivery.
  • Collaborate with the downstream Operations Team to drive operational excellence for our eCommerce Websites. Accountable for ensuring availability, performance and compliance of customer-facing web sites.
  • Champion a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Promote automation, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines for efficiency.
  • Encourage experimentation and rapid prototyping to validate ideas quickly.
  • Manage vendor relationship for sourcing Web engineering talent, managed services and strategic partners (ie Adobe, Akamai). Leveraging on-site/off-shore resources for efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical and operational risks.
  • Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical systems.
  • Recruit, onboard, provide continuous mentorship and coaching to all members of the scrum teams.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set clear goals, and provide career development opportunities.
  • Encourage diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety within the team.
  • Develop team target metrics.
  • Track the performance of the scrum teams, implementing performance improvement strategies when necessary.
  • Manage software development processes across multiple application development disciplines for software technology product lines.
  • Develop risk identification and mitigation strategies associated with the architecture and coding process.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.
  • Establish and ensure best practices for the software development lifecycle including solution engineering, build, and test, inclusive of unit test automation.
  • Administrative: Perform all other administrative and organizational duties as required (time keeping, training, travel, collaboration and correspondence, etc.)

  • Scope: Direct oversight of multi-functional product engineering pods comprising engineering managers, tech leads, and frontend/backend developers. Budgetary and technical accountability for enterprise product delivery..
  • Problem Solving: Resolves complex technical, architectural, and resource allocation challenges across multi-functional delivery teams. Balances speed-to-market with long-term architectural stability and technical debt remediation.
  • Impact: Directly impacts core enterprise digital products, guest/customer experience, revenue generation, and product delivery velocity.
  • Leadership: Requires strong servant leadership, technical authority, strategic vision, and people management skills to build a high-performing engineering organization.

Essential/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science/Math or equivalent degree
  • 12+ years delivering technology products
  • 10 years delivering large scale consumer facing system solutions
  • 8+ years managing a staff of over 20 in a support and project oriented matrix organization
  • Proven ability to build productive collaborative relationships, motive team members, and instill a positive can do attitude
  • Must have strong experience leading engineering/technology professionals
  • Experience in the planning, analysis, and design of software application strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of the system development life cycle, the customer area’s functions and systems, and application program development alternatives
  • Should have a deep understanding of many software development methodologies
  • Deep understanding and application of WCAG, PCI, PII, Encryption requirements
Essential experience required:
  • 3+ years in Salesforce Commerce Cloud is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in modern web technologies like React, API gateways
  • 3+ years of experience with web systems architecture componenets like Akamai/CDN, DNS, SSL
  • 3+ years of experience with MarTech solutions like Adobe target, Analytics, session recording, Personalization tools
  • Strong understanding of Web UI Technologies and frameworks such as React and Angular
  • Proven experience on Product Testing and driving result through iterative testing
  • Strong experience and understanding of Serverless Architecture
  • Strong experience with REACT
  • Strong experience and understanding of Event Driven Architecture
  • Micros services & SPA experience preferred

Travel: Less than 25% with shoreside travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
