Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager - Product based in Netherlands.

This is an opportunity to lead a high-impact product engineering team within an early-stage, fully distributed software environment.
You'll guide a compact group of engineers responsible for turning customer needs into valuable, reliable product capabilities.
The team works across cloud spend management, data pipelines, visualization, and intuitive product experiences.
You'll partner closely with Product and Design to ensure engineering priorities remain aligned with customer needs and business goals.
The role combines people leadership, delivery ownership, technical judgment, and organizational development.
You'll have meaningful influence over engineering standards, team growth, hiring, and how products move from idea to launch.
It's an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who thrives on autonomy, collaboration, and building high-performing teams in a fast-moving environment.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, coach, develop, and grow a compact product engineering team while maintaining a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
  • Establish clear priorities, maintain alignment across the team, remove delivery blockers, and ensure consistent progress toward product goals.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to translate customer needs and business priorities into focused engineering initiatives.
  • Guide the team in balancing delivery speed, technical quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability when making engineering tradeoffs.
  • Enable engineers to take ownership of features from initial concepts and technical planning through implementation, testing, and launch.
  • Establish and maintain practical standards for software design, testing, documentation, technical decisions, and engineering processes.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and development of new engineering talent as the organization grows.
  • Strengthen collaboration across engineering, product, design, and leadership to ensure decisions are clear and execution remains coordinated.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and strong communication.
  • Help the team deliver dependable and performant product capabilities across spend management, data, visualization, and application infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing and developing software engineering teams, ideally within a product-focused technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams, develop engineers, and create an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to understand customer needs, business priorities, and technical considerations when setting engineering direction.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to maintain clarity across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Strong judgment when balancing velocity, engineering quality, technical debt, and customer impact.
  • Experience enabling engineers to own features and projects throughout the complete development lifecycle.
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage or rapidly evolving environment where processes and priorities continue to develop.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with Product, Design, and senior leadership.
  • Experience with or familiarity with modern software development environments such as TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Terraform, GCP, dbt, and Dagster is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Experience leading engineers within a young startup is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to FinOps, cloud infrastructure, cloud cost optimization, or data platforms is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with a comparable modern technology stack is also a plus.
Benefits
  • Base salary of up to $300,000 CAD, plus additional compensation opportunities.
  • Fully remote work within a distributed engineering environment.
  • Opportunity to lead a small, high-leverage team with significant influence on product and engineering direction.
  • Meaningful ownership over team development, engineering standards, hiring, and delivery practices.
  • Close collaboration with Product, Design, and leadership.
  • Opportunity to work on products addressing complex cloud spending and optimization challenges.
  • High-autonomy environment that encourages thoughtful decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to shape team culture and engineering practices within a growing technology organization.
