Department Hours: Monday -Thursday 8:15 AM - 5:30 PM; Friday 8:15 AM - 6:30 PM
Location: Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Suffolk,Virginia
Hiring Range: $70,275 - $98,000 ($33.78 - $47.12 hourly)
(Higher compensation maybe considered based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity)

The Business Development Manager is a proactiveand results-driven professional responsible for driving small business growththrough strategic relationship management, community engagement, and tailoredfinancial solutions. This role focuses on acquiring, developing, and deepeningrelationships with small business members by identifying and delivering bankingsolutions that meet their unique needs. The ideal candidate is a highlymotivated relationship-builder with strong analytical and problem-solvingskills who thrives in a dynamic environment. Passionate about supporting smallbusinesses, this individual will play a key role in positioning the creditunion as a trusted financial partner within the community. This position reports to the Senior VicePresident of Retail and collaborates closely with the VP of Commercial Lending.
Responsibleand Accountable for:
  • Lead business development efforts to acquire, retain, and expand small business relationships through in-person, phone outreach, virtual interactions, and internal referrals.
  • Identify and deliver customized financial solutions, including business deposit accounts, cash management services, and other business banking products for companies with annual revenues between $100K and $10MM.
  • Actively engage with the local business community, chamber of commerce, and networking events to build brand awareness, generate referrals, and support economic growth.
  • Partner with internal teams to refer small business lending and commercial real estate (CRE) loan opportunities to the business services and underwriting teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by assessing small business members' financial needs and providing insights to enhance their banking experience.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitive market trends, industry regulations, and emerging small business banking needs to position the credit union as a preferred financial partner.
  • Collaborating with retail leadership, product management, and marketing to enhance small business offering and ensure a seamless member experience.
  • Represents the credit union at civic and community events to demonstrate the credit union's commitment to local business and economic development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Retail and entry-level business development professionals to strengthen the credit union's small business banking capabilities.

Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proactively engage with prospective and existing small business members through in-person and phone solicitation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of small business referral sources within the community, independently generating leads and driving product sales.
  • Thrive in both independent and team-oriented settings, demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills for effective presentations and relationship-building.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Educationand Experience:
  • Proven track record of building a performing small business portfolio
  • Knowledge of and experience aligning business loan products, deposit options, and cash management solutions to small business clients.
  • Associate's degree in business, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
