The Opportunity: 

We are currently seeking the newest innovator, R&D Lab Engineer,  to join our dynamic HS (Home Solution) R&D Organization in our Buffalo Grove, IL office.  

The R&D Lab Engineer supports our new product development and testing goals, using modern laboratory testing methodologies and equipment.

You will be working in the Appliance testing laboratory to provide quantitative analysis and engineering results for new LG Home appliance products. You must have a creative mindset and must have an aptitude in engineering and analytical studies.

Principal duties and Responsibilities:

1. New LG NPI Product Development Support. 

- Provide Engineering insight and improvement solution for new product development

- Screen and analyze new product performance provide decisions for next steps

- Statistically evaluate and interpret collected product data

- Evaluate and analyze data collected from field research using statistical approach

- Review shortcomings and faults of current design to pinpoint weaknesses and improvement points

- Utilizing CAD based software and engineering analysis tools, design and prototype new improvements for existing products

- Communicate with various R&D and factory laboratories to provide US usage-based engineering and design statistics

2. Performance Lab Functions

- Create new LG internal testing protocols to benchmark LG NPI Products

- Fully understand and interpret CR testing protocols to adapt for CR Benchmarking

- Create and manage testing plans to accomplish responsibilities in a timely manner

- Benchmark competitor products to understand advantages and disadvantages of each product

- Explore new opportunities for improvement through research of new testing equipment, methods and industry standards

- Program new visual analysis tools to improve communication by eliminating excess and strengthening quantitative tools

- Create automated data analysis systems to automatically calculate results from data sets to reduce invested manpower

- Create custom reporting structure to improve process from DAQ raw data to the reporting format

3. Consumer Usage understanding and testing method creation support. 

- Research and provide verification for new actual usage protocol development

- Create new testing methods based on the VOC/FFR/Customer information against standard AHAM/DOE based testing methods

- Run statistical analysis to determine the critical few from the trivial many for utility in protocol creation

- Create and program automatically calculated testing protocol templates/layouts to raise efficiency for data analysis

- Provide impact on DOE/AHAM/EPA standard rule making through expert input based on test results and consumer facts

4. High Level data acquisition and analysis. 

- Understand acquisition hardware/software to create acquisition models for lab purpose

- Provide guidance to lab technicians to properly utilize available technical resources for proper testing

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical studies

- Relevant professional experience is preferred but not required, such as experience in a Laboratory Environment

- Ability to perform minor programming and software analysis to create forms and automatic calculation models preferred

- High level knowledge of analytical and statistical methods preferred
