WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group's Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high-impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands-on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.
The Department for Outcomes supports the World Bank Group in strengthening how it defines, measures, and delivers development results. Key focus areas include:
Managing the WBG Scorecard and institutional results architecture - Oversees the integrated corporate Scorecard through FY2030 and ensures consistency and quality of results reporting.
Strengthening outcome measurement - Enhances methodologies, indicators, data systems, and reproducibility across the WBG's results ecosystem.
Supporting delivery of strategic outcomes - Monitors progress on WBG outcome areas, including climate, jobs, gender, youth, and private capital mobilization.
Building internal and external capacity for results - Leads efforts to professionalize results measurement and strengthen institutional accountability.
Providing thought leadership on outcomes - Shapes outcome-focused practices through analytics, evidence, and engagement across the WBG and with partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will support the Department for Outcomes in advancing the World Bank Group Scorecard and contributing to the FY26 Mid Term Review (MTR) process. Working closely with the Scorecard and thematic teams (Jobs, Private Capital Facilitation, and Climate), they will help strengthen the quality, consistency, and credibility of results reporting and the broader accountability architecture of the WBG. Key responsibilities include:
Assist with data and methods tasks - Help prepare datasets, track methodological updates, and support efforts to improve Scorecard measurement quality, including indicator definition reviews, reproducibility checks, quality assurance, disaggregation work, and data curation across WBG operational systems and platforms.
Support evidence generation for the MTR - Assist in collecting, cleaning, organizing, and synthesizing evidence from internal and external consultations, workstream discussions, and independent reviews (IEG, GIA). Contribute to drafting analytical summaries and inputs for the four MTR lenses - Clarity, Credibility, Collaboration, and Capability.
Draft and prepare strategic materials - Contribute to preparing presentations, briefing notes, evidence packs, and high-level summaries for senior leadership, WBG collaborators, and Board-facing discussions related to Scorecard progress and MTR recommendations.
Support stakeholder engagement and consultation processes - Help organize and document internal and external consultations, consolidate feedback from diverse WBG and non-WBG stakeholders, and synthesize emerging insights to inform strategic adjustments to the Scorecard.
Maintain a structured knowledge base for Scorecard processes - Support the organization of methodological guidance, cross-institutional input, decisions, and knowledge products to ensure teams across the WBG have accessible, up-to-date resources for Scorecard implementation.
