POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Vice President of Sales will lead and develop a Sales team for the North American market. The role will be expected to exceed sales, margin, and budgetary objectives to ensure ultimate growth and profitability for the business unit and company. This position will lead the team in building relationships with major clients, managing and reporting sales reports, designing new innovative and more effective sales strategies, and promoting the organization’s services. This role will work in collaboration with the division president, marketing, operations, innovation, and quality to continually improve the effectiveness of the sales organization and enhance productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Work as part of the leadership team to provide strategic input for the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead team to consistently meet established sales quotas, revenue goals, and profitability.
  • Determine and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue vs. plan, contact rate, quote closure rate, service agreement acquisitions, new account acquisitions, and gross profit percentage.
  • Develop Sales strategies in collaboration with the division president by determining customer needs and goals for company services using available CL and external resources.
  • Support existing business and pursue new placement opportunities with the goal of creating projected growth through direct and indirect selling activities.
  • Participate in networking opportunities with prospective clients to persuade them to bring business to Certified Laboratories.
  • Formulate new and innovative ways to market company products and services.
  • Represent Certified Laboratories at tradeshows and sales conferences.
  • Collaborate with the division president and marketing team in the design of marketing and promotional materials in both print and online.
  • Proactively conduct independent research into target consumer base.
  • Develop and implement action plans for specific quarterly and sales goals for the team.
  • Create and execute the sales department go-to-market and operational strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead in-house training to help improve the effectiveness and productivity of the sales team.
  • Develop and implement employee performance metrics for the sales team.
  • Participate in corporate succession planning activities, write and deliver employee reviews.
  • Participate and provide updates regarding clients and sales at all management/company meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends, government regulations, and technical developments that effect target markets.
  • Support the division president in all areas of sales as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is highly preferred. A degree in the sciences, particularly with a concentration in Chemistry or Microbiology, is also strongly preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in sales leadership and 10–15 years of experience in business development within the supplements, OTC, cosmetics, personal care, CRO/CMO, or laboratory testing (TIC) industries required.
  • Proven experience leading a sales organization with collective annual revenue responsibility of $50M+, with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven sales and business development experience within the cosmetics, personal care, supplements, OTC, manufacturing, CRO/CMO, or laboratory testing industries is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales, business development, account management, and strategic customer relationships within a technical or science-driven industry.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, sales technology, and data-driven sales management tools.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing sales teams, including setting performance expectations, coaching, and holding team members accountable to revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies that drive new business, expand existing accounts, and increase market share.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate market opportunities, customer needs, and industry trends into actionable growth strategies.
