Job description

Summary
The Product Development & Engineering Coordinator is a key member of the Specialty Play Group design team, serving as a bridge between product design, engineering, drafting, manufacturing, and operations. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of engineering and product data within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), coordinating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), managing bill of materials (BOMs) and product documentation, and supporting product releases throughout the product lifecycle.
The position supports new product development (NPD), product lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives through prototype tracking, testing coordination, documentation control, and cross-functional communication. By ensuring engineering changes, product structures, manufacturing data, and technical documentation are accurate, complete, and implemented on time, this role helps drive product quality, manufacturability, operational efficiency, and data integrity across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from initiation through implementation.
  • Review, validate, and process approved engineering changes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement engineering changes affecting products, components, bill of materials (BOMs), routing, specification, revisions, and related manufacturing documentation.
  • Maintaining engineering change records and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, the design team to communicate and execute engineering changes effectively.
  • Monitor engineering change activities to ensure timely implementation and minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with product designers, engineering, and drafting to ensure timely release of new products and product enhancements.
  • Assist with prototype tracking, product testing coordination, and documentation associated with product development activities.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or two years' equivalent work experience required (drafting, design coordination, product development, or manufacturing support).
  • Extensive computer experience with knowledge of 2D and 3D design and visualization.
  • Background in project management with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with working with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics (D365).
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), product data management, and bill of materials (BOM) structures.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk products (Inventor, AutoCAD).
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Drafting and design background

Language Skills
Must be able to read and interpret technical documents such as safety rules and assembly manuals. Must be able to write installation instructions and parts lists for technical manuals. Must be able to understand, follow and execute instructions accurately.
Reasoning Ability
Must possess strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to analyze manufacturing and design challenges, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully one must be proficient in using AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD software for design work, site plans/layouts and detailed part drawings. Familiarity with MS Office Suite is a plus.
