The qualifications for a career as a product development assistant vary depending on the work environment and employer, but typically require a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field and relevant experience. Job description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

Lyft is hiring a bright, dynamic, and self-motivated attorney with at least 5 years of legal experience to join our Legal team. The successful candidate will be adaptable, driven, and energized by a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and no two days look quite the same. You will partner with and provide legal guidance to teams across the company – including in the Partnerships, Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Public Policy organizations – on initiatives that influence all aspects of Lyft’s business. The legal issues you’ll encounter are complex and continually evolving, so you’ll need to assess and advise on an ongoing basis using a creative and pragmatic approach.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise Lyft product teams as they develop, launch, and operate a wide range of new products and features across multiple lines of business
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements involving complex partnerships and technology transactions; serve as the primary legal counsel for these partnerships, from ideation to product implementation
  • Provide practical and creative legal advice and support on business matters in a fluctuating and fast-paced environment
  • Integrate with cross-functional partners and their teams (including business development managers, product managers, and marketing managers) and serve as the voice of Legal throughout the product development process and related marketing initiatives
  • Develop and drive comprehensive, long-term legal strategies that balance risk and business objectives
  • Prioritize your workload to meet goals and deadlines in an environment where business priorities sometimes shift
  • Assist other teams with projects on an as-needed basis
Experience:
  • Law degree and membership in at least one state bar with good standing
  • 5+ years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department; experience advising clients on tech product development and/or partnership integration is a strong plus, but not required
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Strong track record of working with a wide range of commercial agreements and customer-facing terms
  • Willing and eager to take on new areas of law and function independently, while also being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think quickly, convey grace under pressure, and simultaneously manage multiple client priorities
  • Great judgment and sense of humor
Benefits:
  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
  • Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership

Lyft is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive workplace that fosters belonging. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regards to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by law. We also consider qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable federal, state and local law.

Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Lyft considers working in the office at least 3 days per week to be an essential function of this hybrid role. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $176,000 - $220,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
