This position sits with our Swedish Match affiliate.
The Associate Product Development Chemist supports the development of new products, enhancement of existing formulations, and their successful transition into manufacturing. This role collaborates with research teams on sensory and consumer studies, while partnering with Quality Control and Manufacturing to ensure consistent product quality. Additionally, the position provides technical and analytical support for testing and special projects, and assists in the preparation and maintenance of regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Your 'day to day'
    • Support Product Development Chemist in the formulation and development of new products, including prototype preparation and testing
    • Collect, analyze, and report data to guide product development decisions
    • Assist in defining and optimizing critical processing parameters for new and existing products
    • Lead selected product development projects and maintain accurate project documentation and timelines
    • Coordinate team activities and utilize project management tools to ensure deadlines are met
    • Conduct competitive benchmarking to evaluate market positioning and product performance
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Control teams to implement new products and maintain quality standards
    • Develop and document processing specifications and physical testing methods
    • Evaluate and qualify raw materials, ingredients, and packaging components
    • Investigate consumer complaints, product defects, and rework opportunities to support continuous improvement
    • Partner with Analytical Services to conduct testing, interpret results, and support troubleshooting
    • Prepare samples for sensory and consumer testing; interpret results to assess product performance and differences
    • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and adherence to standard procedures
    • Support ISO requirements through documentation and maintenance of work instructions
    • Review raw materials for regulatory compliance and assist in the preparation of regulatory documentation
    • Collaborate with Regulatory teams on submissions and communication with governing agencies
    • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Who we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Chemical Analyst or in a similar role, preferably working with tobacco or related products

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate and distinguish differences in tobacco or similar products

Annual Base Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000
