Job description

Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
Job Duties:
  • Work closely with and under the direction of engineers to run experiments at the lab bench scale
  • Execute analytical measurements following provided SOPs
  • Documentation and analysis of results with supervision of senior engineers
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations

Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials in a glovebox and associated equipment (required)
  • Knowledge of materials chemistry is preferred and a plus
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment

Education and Experience:
  • Enrolled at least at a junior level in a bachelor's program in a STEM field
  • Experience with materials synthesis and analysis a plus

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR
  • Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms

Hourly Compensation: $25/hour
Schedule: 15-20 hours per week during fall semester
