Product Engineer Intern โ€“ LiDAR / Robotics

San Francisco, CA โ€“ Mission District | 100% Onsite

$28โ€“$32/hr W2 | Contract Internship | Potential for Conversion

Red Oak Technologies is seeking a Product Engineer Intern to support our client, Ouster, in San Franciscoโ€™s Mission District. This is a hands-on opportunity for a current student or recent graduate interested in LiDAR, robotics, software/hardware integration, testing, and product engineering.

This is a 100% onsite contract internship with potential for conversion based on performance and business needs.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Support system engineering, product documentation, integrations, and verification & validation.
  • Develop system-level use cases, test environments, and execute V&V test plans.
  • Build proof-of-concept solutions and customer demos integrating LiDAR technology into existing systems.
  • Support integrations with video management platforms such as Genetec and Milestone.
  • Gather customer and field feedback and communicate findings to product and engineering teams.
  • Use Python for test automation, data analysis, and engineering tasks.
  • Troubleshoot customer-reported issues and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Get hands-on with hardware, including mechanical fit-up, installations, and system testing.
  • Help develop demo environments, technical documentation, data sets, and best-practice guides.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Internship, academic project, or hands-on experience involving robotics, manufacturing, automation, or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Python or another scripting language for test automation or data analysis.
  • Comfortable working with both software and physical hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing and able to work 100% onsite in San Franciscoโ€™s Mission District.
