How much do product designer jobs pay per year?
Is 40 too old to become a UX designer?
What do you do as a product designer?
What Do Product Designers Do?
A product designer creates products for companies based on marketability and customer need. As a product designer, your responsibilities go far beyond aesthetics. You must consider all aspects of behavioral economics that can influence consumer choices. That includes any factors that can affect sales and future development. Your duties include meeting with your client to discuss what they want, conducting market research to determine what the end user wants, and creating a product design that a customer is easily able to use and likely to buy. This process can be time-consuming, as it takes excellent analytical skills to balance marketable aesthetics with functional usability.
How does a Product Designer typically collaborate with engineers and product managers during the development process?
What is the difference between Product Designer vs UX Designer?
| Aspect | Product Designer | UX Designer |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Holistic approach including user experience, visual design, and product strategy | Primarily focuses on user experience and usability |
| Skills | Design, prototyping, user research, product thinking | User research, wireframing, usability testing |
| Work Environment | Collaborates with product managers, developers, and stakeholders | Works closely with UX researchers and developers |
| Common Usage | Used across tech companies, startups, and product teams | Primarily in UX/UI design roles within similar environments |
Product Designers have a broader scope, combining user experience with visual design and product strategy, while UX Designers focus mainly on optimizing user experience and usability. Both roles collaborate closely but differ in their overall responsibilities and skill sets.

You’re a lifelong learner with a combination of formal education (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and at least 1 year of solid on-the-job experience including drafting protocols and standards.
We’re open to individuals who aren’t just looking for their next job, they’re looking to build a career. You want an opportunity to showcase your skill set in Autodesk Vault, template modeling and CAD automation with a solid company who will invest in you. In our culture – everyone matters. Â
ALL ABOUT JENSEN INFRASTRUCTURE
Like you, our founder, Don Jensen was looking for a way to support his family, so he started his company in 1968. Since its founding, we’ve supported communities across Nevada, California, Arizona, Washington, Missouri and Hawaii.
Jensen likely impacts your daily life. We build culverts to drain water from your neighborhoods, underground utility boxes to hold cables, and manholes to allow workers access to the sewers deep below the roads we drive on. And that’s just a small sample of what we do at Jensen daily.
When you work at one of Jensen’s many locations, you will enjoy the close relationships and camaraderie of a small company while being part of a larger, well-established, growing company.
We are committed to ensuring employment practices that promote equal opportunities. Please let us know if you require any reasonable accommodation during your interview.
We consider the wide variety of factors in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Jensen Infrastructure offers various competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, PTO, and 401k with a Company match. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Jensen’s annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. Incentive awards will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.
