Explicitly mentions prototyping/vibe-coding platforms and frontier AI tools for rapid prototyping and AI-assisted design.

About the Role

Microsoft Windows Design is hiring a Product Designer II to lead end-to-end visual and experience design for Windows features, using rapid prototyping and frontier AI tools to iterate from concept to launch while collaborating with product, engineering, and marketing partners.

Job Description Role

Product Designer II on the Windows Design team responsible for end-to-end design execution for moderately complex product areas. The role emphasizes visual and experience design, prototyping, storytelling, and the pragmatic use of frontier AI tools to accelerate research, ideation, and prototyping.

  • Translate qualitative and quantitative research into actionable design improvements and iterate based on user feedback and metrics.
  • Create and test low- to high-fidelity prototypes to validate concepts and de-risk decisions.
  • Craft clear design narratives that explain the WHAT, WHY, and HOW and connect design choices to user needs and business outcomes.
  • Participate in team critiques and rituals, contributing positively to team culture and continuous learning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, HCI, UX, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years of product or service design experience, OR equivalent experience using design thinking to solve problems.
  • Submission must include a digital portfolio demonstrating UI fundamentals, clear layouts, systems thinking, and ability to explain design decisions and trade-offs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma and prototyping/vibe-coding platforms.
  • Experience using frontier AI technologies to accelerate research, ideation, prototyping, content creation, accessibility reviews, and experimentation.
  • Strong foundation in interaction design, usability, accessibility, and inclusive design best practices.
  • Effective communication and storytelling skills and ability to present work and receive feedback constructively.
Compensation
  • Typical U.S. base pay range: USD 102,100 - 202,200 per year.
  • San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range: USD 133,800 - 219,200 per year.
Notes
