Product Definition information

What is product definition?

Product definition is the process of clearly outlining what a product is, who it is for, and what problems it solves. This involves gathering and analyzing customer needs, market research, and technical requirements to create a detailed description of the product's features, functions, and value proposition. The product definition acts as a blueprint for development teams and stakeholders, guiding the design, development, and launch of the product. It ensures everyone involved has a shared understanding of the product's goals and requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a product definition specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Product Definition Specialist, you need a solid background in product design, requirements gathering, and market analysis, often supported by a degree in engineering, business, or a related field. Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software, wireframing tools, and technical documentation systems is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration skills set outstanding specialists apart. These competencies ensure that products are accurately defined, meet market needs, and are developed efficiently from concept to launch.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in product definition, and how can they be effectively managed?

Professionals in Product Definition often encounter challenges such as aligning cross-functional teams around a unified product vision, managing shifting stakeholder priorities, and ensuring user needs are accurately captured. Navigating these challenges typically requires strong communication skills, active stakeholder engagement, and iterative validation of requirements. Establishing clear documentation and leveraging collaboration tools can help streamline the process, ensuring that product goals and user expectations remain at the forefront throughout development.

What is the difference between Product Definition vs Product Manager?

Product Manager, IoT Platform

Full Time Professional DE

2 days ago Requisition ID: 1169

Salary: €92,000.00 Annually

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our IoT Platform team and own the complete success of the platform's connectivity management capabilities. This individual contributor role will translate KORE's strategic goals into an executable product strategy, roadmap, and measurable customer outcomes.

You will help evolve how customers connect, manage, and scale devices globally as SGP.32 unlocks new possibilities for greater flexibility, choice, and control throughout the IoT lifecycle. Your work will focus on orchestrating connectivity, services, workflows, and partner capabilities to support diverse customer use cases while improving automation, operational efficiency, reliability, and cost.

You will also identify opportunities to leverage AI to help customers make better decisions, uncover actionable insights, automate complex tasks, and enable new solutions across the IoT lifecycle. This includes validating where AI can deliver meaningful customer value and translating those opportunities into intuitive, responsible, and scalable product capabilities.

You will lead your areas of the platform from customer discovery and product definition through development, launch, measurement, and continuous improvement. Working with product, engineering, design, sales, operations, and customer-facing teams across Europe and North America, you will gather customer and stakeholder input, establish priorities, make informed tradeoffs, and deliver solutions that are technically sound, intuitive, and aligned with KORE's mission to simplify IoT.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You will join KORE's Product Management organization and work with the cross-functional teams shaping our IoT Platform. The team is evolving KORE's connectivity management capabilities into a more coherent platform experience that helps customers act on insights, orchestrate services and workflows, and achieve better outcomes throughout the IoT lifecycle.

This is a collaborative, distributed team working across Europe and North America. You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, sales, operations, and customer-facing colleagues to understand customer needs, align priorities, and deliver improvements across product and organizational boundaries. The team values customer evidence, clear decisions, practical experimentation, and shared accountability for outcomes.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Product Strategy and Roadmap

  • Define and communicate the strategy and roadmap for KORE's IoT connectivity and lifecycle management platform, aligned with customer needs, company priorities, and KORE's goal to simplify IoT.
  • Translate strategic goals into measurable outcomes and sequenced initiatives that teams can execute.
  • Make clear investment and prioritization decisions using customer evidence, product data, market developments, and technical insight.

Discovery, Product Ownership, and Innovation

  • Own product initiatives from discovery and product definition through development, launch, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate the connectivity and operational challenges of global IoT deployments into clear requirements and intuitive platform experiences.
  • Establish success measures and use adoption, connectivity, operational, and customer support insights to guide decisions and improve products after launch.
  • Apply AI and automation to help customers make better decisions, surface actionable insights, optimize operations, and enable new solutions.

Connectivity Evolution and Orchestration

  • Guide the platform's evolution beyond operational data and insights toward active orchestration, automation, and optimization across the IoT lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities created by SGP.32 to give customers greater flexibility, choice, and control over connectivity.
  • Orchestrate connectivity, services, workflows, and partner capabilities to reduce complexity and make IoT easier to deploy, operate, and scale globally.

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Coordinate priorities, dependencies, risks, and decisions across teams in Europe and North America.
  • Partner with engineering, design, data, operations, sales, and customer-facing teams to move platform initiatives from discovery through adoption.
  • Communicate product direction and tradeoffs clearly, remove roadblocks, and maintain accountability for customer and business outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred. Candidates without a technical degree will be considered based on the strength of their product management background.
  • 4+ years of product management experience, including demonstrated experience building and evolving B2B platforms with shared capabilities that support multiple products, workflows, customer types, or use cases.
  • Practical understanding of the IoT connectivity landscape, how connectivity is managed throughout the customer lifecycle, and the challenges customers face when deploying and scaling globally.
  • Proven experience managing products powered by APIs and understanding how developers discover, evaluate, integrate, and use APIs to build customer solutions.
  • Direct experience with SIM/eSIM, SGP.32, connectivity orchestration, carrier ecosystems, or related IoT lifecycle capabilities is preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
  • Platform Product Leadership: Able to align engineering, design, commercial, operational, and customer-facing teams around a common platform direction.
  • IoT Customer Context: Able to identify how platform capabilities can reduce complexity, improve control and visibility, and unlock customer value.
  • Technical Product Fluency: Ability to work closely with engineering on cloud platforms, APIs, integrations, data flows, system dependencies, and technical tradeoffs while translating complexity into clear customer value.
  • Outcomes and Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to define success measures, prioritize customer and business value, and show measurable impact rather than simply the volume of features or outputs delivered.
  • Complete Ownership and Bias for Action: Track record of taking ambiguous customer problems from discovery through delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement. Makes informed decisions, removes roadblocks, and maintains accountability for completing the work and achieving the intended outcome.
  • AI-Augmented Product Management: Ability to use AI responsibly to accelerate research, synthesis, analysis, product definition, and communication while maintaining strong judgment and accountability.
KORE VISION, MISSION, AND VALUES

VISION

To be the trusted global leader in IoT Connectivity Solutions for over 100,000,000+ connected devices, enabling a smarter, more connected world for all.

MISSION

To empower our customers to deliver transformative solutions that deliver impactful outcomes to the communities and customers they serve.

  • Grit & Positivity: We face challenges head-on – with resilience, optimism, and determination. We look at these situations as an opportunity to create a positive outcome. When we make a commitment, we deliver. We challenge those in a respectful way that do not meet their commitments.
  • Challenge. Debate. But Be Human: We speak up, question assumptions, and challenge ideas – not people. We aim for the best outcomes through respectful, direct, and open dialogue, keeping in mind we’re all on the same team.
