McWane Plant & Industrial (MPI) in Exeter, CA is a recognized leader in water control products for water treatment, wastewater, high-volume agricultural and rural surface water delivery, hydro-power, and flood control management. Job Description

The EP Assembler assembles metal products used in canal gates either, partially or completely, working at bench or on shop floor by performing the following duties:

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Removes small quantities of metal with handheld files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machine to assist in assembly operation.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies. Placing and expediting requisitions for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performsother duties as assigned.

Language skills - ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
