Directly Reports to: Grocery and Produce Manager


Georgetown Market is an independent, family-owned Natural Foods Store and Eatery, firmly rooted on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana, since 1973. Our customers trust us to share our expertise and provide them with quality products and outstanding service. 


Position Summary: Grocery/Produce Clerks are responsible for a variety of duties around the department, including stocking, cleaning, and customer service.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Providing excellent customer service: greeting customers, helping them locate items, providing information about our products, answering phones, making recommendations, and taking special orders.
  • Stocking and merchandising duties: lifting, rotating, straightening, and facing products on shelves, endcaps, displays, and in coolers and freezers. Ensuring products are accurately labeled and changing sales tags as needed. 
  • Attending to produce set: stocking, culling, trimming, and watering. 
  • Inventory management: date checking, informing management of low inventory levels, and maintaining an orderly backstock room. 
  • Cleaning and maintenance: dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and other general tidying. 
  • Safety and compliance: ensuring customer and staff safety by following proper protocols. Notifying store management of unsafe conditions or broken equipment.  
  • Expanding knowledge: being inquisitive and learning about the products we carry. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of healthy foods is a plus.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • Good judgment, the ability to make sound decisions and to solve problems.

  • Must be available for evening and weekend shifts. Some Sundays are required.

Physical Summary
