Job description

Trexquant is a growing systematic fund manager with a core team of highly accomplished technologists. We are hiring an early-career technology transactions attorney to focus on the agreements that power our research, trading, and operational infrastructure. The agreements concern data licensing, technology procurement, and related commercial matters.

You will work directly with alpha researchers, data scientists, and software engineers, and partner closely with our team of senior counsel on broader legal functions concerning intellectual property, artificial intelligence, privacy and data protection, securities regulation, and other matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data licensing agreements across market and alternative data, with particular attention to commercial terms, usage rights, derived data, user obligations, audit, and exit options.
  • Lead technology procurement contracting: SaaS, cloud and data center agreements, software licenses, and professional services.

  • Manage the NDA program and the intellectual property terms within commercial agreements, including but not limited to derived data, open source, and AI use compliance

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house at a financial services or technology company, or a combination.
  • Demonstrated drafting and negotiation skill in commercial technology contracts, with focus or strong interest in data and technology transactions.
  • Familiarity with one or more of: market and exchange data licensing, SaaS and cloud agreements, trade secrets protection, and IP licensing.
  • Strong commercial judgment; comfort working directly with business and research colleagues.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary plus bonus based on individual and company performance.
  • Collaborative, casual, and friendly work environment.
  • PPO Health, dental and vision insurance premiums fully covered for you and your dependents.
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits.
  • Weekly company meals.

Applications are open for both Stamford and New York City offices, the latter with a planned opening in October 2026.

The base salary range is $160,000 to $190,000 depending on the candidate’s educational and professional background. Base salary is one component of Trexquant’s total compensation, which may also include a discretionary, performance-based bonus. This position is classified as overtime-exempt.

Trexquant is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
