POSITION SUMMARY:         

Advanced Energy is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the development and launch of advanced power solutions for hyperscale data center customers.

This role is responsible for driving cross-functional hardware development programs from concept through production release, ensuring products are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements. The Program Manager serves as the primary interface between customers and internal stakeholders while coordinating engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to achieve program objectives.

This position requires significant experience leading the development of complex physical hardware products and a strong system-level technical understanding of the products being developed. The successful candidate must be capable of leading teams through technical challenges, facilitating problem resolution, understanding system tradeoffs, assessing risk, and driving decisions that balance customer, engineering, operational, and business requirements.

This is a highly visible role requiring both strong program leadership and sufficient technical depth to effectively guide teams through product development and issue resolution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership

• Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of New Product Introduction (NPI), from concept through production launch.
• Develop and manage integrated program plans, schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and deliverables.
• Drive execution to meet commitments for schedule, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure alignment between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, operations, and commercial teams.
• Manage programs in accordance with Advanced Energy's Product Development Process (PDP).

Customer Engagement

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer program management and technical stakeholders.
• Support customer RFQs, program proposals, development plans, and project reviews.
• Lead customer status reviews and executive-level communications.
• Manage customer expectations and ensure timely communication of program risks, issues, and mitigation plans.

Technical Leadership & Problem Solving

• Develop and maintain sufficient system-level product knowledge to effectively lead program execution and facilitate technical decision-making.
• Lead cross-functional teams through complex technical, operational, manufacturing, and customer issues.
• Facilitate technical discussions between engineering disciplines and drive alignment on critical decisions.
• Understand product architecture, performance requirements, design tradeoffs, and system interactions.
• Ensure technical risks and their business impacts are identified, communicated, and mitigated throughout the product lifecycle.
• Drive issue resolution by coordinating engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain resources.

Manufacturing & Product Launch

• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure production readiness.
• Coordinate material readiness, manufacturing readiness, qualification activities, and launch execution.
• Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) objectives and cycle-time improvements.
• Ensure smooth transition from development into volume production.
• Monitor launch metrics and drive corrective actions as necessary.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

• Identify program risks, constraints, and dependencies and develop mitigation plans.
• Lead escalation management and resolution of critical program issues.
• Capture lessons learned and implement process improvements across future development programs.
• Maintain program metrics and provide regular updates to customers, leadership teams, and stakeholders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Location: Eden Prairie, MN
• Environment: Onsite, office environment
• Up to 10% domestic and international travel

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of Program Management experience leading the development and commercialization of complex physical hardware products.
• Demonstrated success leading New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through manufacturing release.
• Strong system-level understanding of electrical, power electronic, electromechanical, telecommunications, server, data center infrastructure, industrial, or similar complex hardware systems.
• Ability to understand product architecture, technical risks, engineering tradeoffs, and system interactions in order to effectively lead product development teams.
• Experience working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, procurement, and operations organizations.
• Proven ability to lead teams through technical and operational problem resolution.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to influence and drive alignment across cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Preferred

• Experience with power electronics, power conversion, power distribution, power systems, or related technologies.
• Experience serving hyperscale, cloud computing, AI infrastructure, or data center customers.
• Experience with PCBA design, electronics manufacturing, and supply chain management.
• Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies.
• Experience working in highly regulated or quality-driven product development environments.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience managing the development and launch of physical hardware products including:

Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to software development, IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, business systems implementation, or non-hardware project management will not be considered for this position.

COMPENSATION:                            

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting.  Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  The range of starting pay for this role is $130,000 to $170,000 per year.
