Established in 1958, Advance Storage Products is the country's leading manufacturer of pushback systems, producing nearly half of all systems sold in the US. Advance's LoPro Pushback racking solution is recognized as the "gold standard" for ease of installation, ease of operation, quality and durability. Our warehouse pallet racking solutions are used in major installations for many Fortune 500 companies.
The Buyer position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, plant consumables, custom parts, and supplies to support operations utilizing the JIT manufacturing methodology. This position will work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and with the operations team to maintain company standards and follow established procedures in assigned location/manufacturing plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain relationships and manage vendors to include monitoring lead-times and needed cost negotiations with wholesalers and suppliers.
  • Assist the Materials amp; Supply Chain Manager in the negotiation and maintenance of contracts for assigned location.
  • Measure supplier performance based on KPIโ€™s tied to quality, safety and service level.
  • Forecast weekly demand at assigned manufacturing plant and enter/monitor purchase orders to fulfill material requirements by the needed request date.
  • Adjust purchases and deliveries as needed to accommodate changes to demand and product expedites.
  • Oversee and maintain current and required inventory levels of materials, products (buy out parts), and supplies.
  • Maintain ERP and other files and records of material data and vendor transactions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory balances, cycle count process.
  • Responsible for the receipt, verification, and recording of raw materials and products delivered.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Ensure timely reliable delivery of key materials to meet production schedules.
  • Assesses financial risks of purchases.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and collaborates with others as needed to implement change.
  • Assist with research, analysis, and forecast of current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products, with attention to specified target market and demographics.
  • Effective daily collaboration with manufacturing leaders, finance, IT, field sales amp; marketing, and customer service in support demand planning and inventory control processes.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
Bachelorโ€™s Degree preferred, ideally with an emphasis in Operations or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent preferred, equivalent experience will be considered.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in purchasing and inventory control in a manufacturing setting.
  • Procurement or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Hands on ERP systems experience preferred.
REQUIRED OUTSIDE TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
