Manager, Procurement Operations

A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Manager, Procurement Operations to lead a team of buyers responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials into a high-volume manufacturing operation.

This role oversees purchasing execution, supplier performance, inbound shipments, inventory flow, and procurement processes to ensure materials arrive on time and production remains uninterrupted. The successful candidate will inherit an established procurement operation and be responsible for strengthening accountability, improving workflows, optimizing processes, and driving continuous operational improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys coaching teams, and has a strong understanding of purchasing operations, supplier management, inventory planning, and supply chain execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 67 buyers while fostering accountability and ownership
  • Oversee purchasing operations to ensure purchase orders are placed accurately and on time
  • Align purchasing activities with demand forecasts, inventory requirements, and supplier lead times
  • Monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, ETAs, and inbound shipments
  • Identify and resolve delays, shortages, and supplier issues before they impact production
  • Improve procurement workflows, reporting, KPIs, and operational processes
  • Partner with Sourcing, Planning, Warehouse, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow
  • Ensure procurement documentation, invoices, payments, and shipment records are completed accurately
  • Analyze procurement performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Drive operational efficiency through process optimization and team development
Qualifications:
  • Experience leading an office-based procurement, purchasing, supply chain, inventory, or order management team required
  • Proven experience managing and developing employees through coaching, KPIs, and accountability
  • Strong understanding of purchasing operations, supplier management, inventory flow, and purchase order execution
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience
  • Ability to identify operational risks early and implement effective solutions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience with domestic and international purchasing preferred
  • Knowledge of container freight, inbound logistics coordination, and inventory planning preferred
  • Experience with continuous process improvement and workflow optimization preferred
