Summary: Responsible for receiving, inventorying and monitoring all incoming raw materials (including molding pellets, carton, labels and other components).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Raw Material Supervisor and will also receive directions from the Operations Manager, Inventory Analyst in the absence of or in conjunction with the Raw Material Supervisor.
The primary responsibility of the Material Handler - Raw Materials is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis, which include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Knowledge and recognition of materials and where they are used.
  • Knowledge of daily performance goals and working to achieve 100% of tasked duties.
  • Completion of necessary documentation or data entry in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Strong computer competency for ERP, including but not limited to inventory reporting, cycle counting, purchasing receiving and reporting, etc. Prior SAP experience is a plus.
  • Safe and timely unloading of incoming deliveries.
  • Collecting testing samples of all incoming deliveries to complete require testing.
  • Proper verification of incoming materials, quantities and delivery to their assigned location.
  • Detection, segregation, and isolation of non-conforming materials and timely notification of Quality, Procurement, Materials and Operations for corrective actions.
  • Safe and timely transportation of virgin and reground materials to the production floor for processing, when necessary.
  • Assuring quality of work through the proper labeling and verification of correctness for all types of materials.
  • Able to identify various types of quality defects and to notify proper departments.
  • Assist in inventory counts and data entry as necessary and instructed.
  • Develop and maintain visual management methods like visual cues, floor markings, signage or dashboards.
  • Must be able to safely operate and perform daily maintenance checks on a forklift.
  • Proper organization and cleanliness of assigned work area to highest level of standards (5S)
  • Perform 5S Audit for each work area assigned on a regular basis
  • Performing the afore-mentioned functions with minimum supervision.
  • Any other duties, as assigned by supervision or management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Qualifications: Must know how to operate a forklift and have a valid forklift license.
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions.
Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to pay close attention to detail, have general deductive reasoning skills to troubleshoot minor issues and knowledgeable of how and when to escalate. Must be able to work without close supervision.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must maintain a valid forklift license.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, carry, clean, drive and maintain. Will use gloves, fork truck, stretch wrap machine, and pallet jacks.

  • Quality Control & Auditing: Train on quality standards, recognizing defects and reporting to proper departments for corrective actions.
