Job Title: Procurement Coordinator
Job Description
The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for researching, ordering, receiving, and managing the inventory of parts required for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment, systems, and machinery. Working under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this role ensures parts are available when needed, maintains accurate records in electronic systems, supports food safety and quality initiatives, and contributes to a safe, organized, and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Research parts, pricing, and availability to support inventory replenishment and specific maintenance needs.
  • Establish and maintain accounts with vendors and develop positive, professional vendor relationships.
  • Order, receive, store, label, and organize parts inventories to ensure efficient access and accurate stock levels.
  • Process electronic purchase orders, including submission, recording, and tracking within relevant systems.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing all key procurement and inventory activities.
  • Report daily work orders and activity, maintaining clear and accurate documentation of tasks and purchases.
  • Determine parts disposition as needed, including decisions about repair, replacement, or scrapping.
  • Complete all work in a timely manner and ensure tasks are performed accurately and in accordance with procedures.
  • Care for and maintain company tools and equipment used in procurement and inventory activities.
  • Follow all safety rules and working procedures, including the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, vendors, and employees to support a harmonious and productive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a quality-focused environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent regular full-time attendance in support of operational and company objectives.

Essential Skills
  • Experience with procurement, purchasing, and purchase order processing.
  • Ability to manage parts inventory levels and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Proficiency using computer databases, ERP or MRP systems to track and process purchases and inventory data.
  • Basic computational skills for pricing, order entry, and data analysis.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail in handling parts, documentation, and records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors, colleagues, and management.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently, following all safety procedures and using safety equipment as required.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills when carrying out assigned duties and resolving issues.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar purchasing role or 1-2 years of experience in a maintenance environment, or equivalent formal training.
  • Ability to ask for assistance when processes are unclear and to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (PM) programs is a plus.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and vendor management practices.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is beneficial.
  • Experience in data entry, reporting, and order management.
  • Skills in negotiation and pricing within a purchasing or buyer function.
  • Exposure to project management and administrative support in a procurement or maintenance setting.

Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting with a Monday through Friday schedule, typically starting at 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. The work environment is business professional, with an emphasis on safety, food quality, and adherence to SQF, QA, GMP, and Safety standards. The role involves regular use of computer systems, ERP or MRP software, and standard office equipment to manage orders, inventory, and reporting, while supporting the maintenance operations of a plant-focused environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
