Position Overview

Function as part of a safe and environmentally sound manufacturing team.  Comply with all policies, procedures, and rules.  Participate in safety committees.  Complete timely SAP entries for production and product control.  Monitor and record process run data and monitor QC data to ensure product runs within specification.

Overview:  

  • Plan, organize and direct the Shipping and Receiving activities including responsibilities for inbound and outbound traffic including all rail and truck movements. 
  • Unload and load raw materials from either truck or railway tankers. 
  • Coordinate activities with the Production/Lab Departments. 
  • Ensure that equipment needing maintenance attention is properly identified using the work order system.  
  • Daily activities will be from the "Bunker/Shipping area". BOL documentation and data entry.  
Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure that equipment needing maintenance attention is properly identified using the work order system.  
  • Lead/facilitate minor and major unit shutdowns. 
  • Ensure that all standard operating procedures are clearly understood and followed.  
  • Work with EH&S coordinator to verify all operators are trained and qualified to safely perform all duties. 
  • Always maintain working area in clean and safe conditions, which will include housekeeping audits and assignment of tasks. 
  • Manage out of spec material by coordinating w/author and Supervisor along with appropriate documentation (T-changes/T-blends). 
  • Ensure proper completion of shift SAP movements for each shift which includes MES, PI sheets, open process orders, settlements, failed message errors. 
  • Attend and actively participate in daily Morning Production Meeting 

Quality 

  • Run routine analytical tests on finished product samples. 
  • Generation of certificates of analysis for outbound shipments. 
  • Preparation of reagents for analytical testing. 
  • Maintain housekeeping. 
  • Ensures that product is shipped to meet customer needs 
  • Use structured problem-solving techniques, analytical tools, and teamwork to improve quality and unit performance.  
  • Ensure ISO standards are adhered to and met, and audit findings are completed with root cause and proper closure.  
  • Participate in quality improvement teams. 
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on testing equipment. 

EH&S 

  • Spill Prevention, walk the line, follow LOTO and safe work procedures. 
  • Serves as process steward for the shipping/receiving department.  
  • Keeps Operating Guides current and up-to-date and improves its contents.  
  • Investigates leads incidents as directed and takes action to prevent recurrence.  
  • Follow Hexion and customer safety rules, including resin spill prevention, spill reporting, safety equipment requirements and spill cleanup procedure. 
  • Ensures monthly MMCC audit components are completed and submitted.   
  • Complete and follow-up with housekeeping audits to ensure open items are completed and reporting is done. 
  • Elevate major concerns to EHS and Logistics Supervisor, ensure safety standards are met. 
  • Active member on the site EH&S committee. 
  • Participate in safety training and audits, including Alberta Transportation Rail Compliance 
  • Initiate safety incident investigations. Be prepared to participate on investigation team. 
  • Review adjust/modify confined space hazard evaluations. 
  • Ensure all operator PM are completed and closed prior to being overdue or month end whichever is first. 
  • Participate in monthly Tailgate/Toolbox meetings - follow-up and investigate issues and safety concerns.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certification Requirements: Industrial Railway Operating Regulation Training (IROR) 
  • OSSA Fall Protection Training 
  • Class 5 Alberta Driver's License  
  • Certification Assets Forklift Operating  
  • Certificate Skid steer Operating  
  • Certificates: TDG Training, WHMIS, Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C Training 

SITE REQUIRMENTS: Fit for Duty- Fitness Compatible 

  • Physical:  Fit for Duty, Requires the ability to wear full and half face respirators.  Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts.  Walking, sitting, climbing, lifting, balancing, kneeling, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing. Weights and hose management up to 55 pounds. Requires visual acuity to distinguish colors. Must be able on occasion to work at heights or in confined spaces, ladders and access to platforms on towers.   
  • Aptitudes:  Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles.  Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately and possess eye-hand coordination.  Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate in English.  
  • Temperaments:  Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.

  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret computerized graphics.
