Are you an experienced Process Operator with a passion for operational excellence and efficiency? We are currently seeking a dedicated Process Operator to join our team at the Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Process Operator would be considered an asset
  • Ability to interpret Alberta Safety Code Regulations, including ASME Codes and related standards
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of unit/area procedures, equipment, and standards; generate or revise Operating and Isolation Procedures as required, in accordance with Production Document Development & Revision Standards
  • Communicate equipment deficiencies promptly to the Control Room Operator and Shift Team Leader
  • Complete scheduled routines and inspections, including Structured Rounds, Monitoring Guides, and Check Sheets; conduct frequent checks of production units and equipment (e.g., rotating equipment, oil levels, gauge glasses, protective systems)
  • Identify and mitigate potential fire hazards (e.g., oil-soaked insulation, flammable material build-up, oil spills)
  • Monitor and maintain rotating equipment and systems susceptible to freezing in sub-zero conditions (e.g., standby equipment, turbines, electric motors, heat tracing)
  • Respond to and report local alarms on equipment or machinery within your area of responsibility
  • Develop or contribute to the development of Safe Work Plans as required
  • Ensure all activities within your area comply with Safe Work Permit requirements
  • Provide thorough and professional turnover documentation when handing over units or equipment to incoming Production Technicians; complete written Post Logs as required
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of others; familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and the location of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency showers, assembly points, rescue equipment)

Location & Work Schedule:

  • Position based at the Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray
  • Shift schedule: 3 days, 3 nights, followed by 6 days off (12-hour shifts)
  • Role requires the ability to perform heavy lifting, use ladders, and work at elevated sites such as scaffolds and towers; must be able to work in diverse environments, including indoor, outdoor, and confined spaces
