Job description

Position Summary
LHH is seeking a Financial Aid Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the Corporate & Campus Financial Aid Office on a temporary-to-hire basis in Columbia, MD. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate student records, assisting with financial aid processing, supporting compliance requirements, and providing service to students, campuses, and internal financial aid leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing administrative support for the daily activities of the Centralized Financial Aid Office.
  • Conduct assigned student record, file, and report audits with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform data entry, record updates, and electronic file maintenance within applicable student information systems.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain electronic documentation in accordance with institutional standards and applicable federal, state, and agency requirements.
  • Maintain detailed student communication logs and entries within CampusVue, including scanning and indexing documentation as needed.
  • Provide support for departmental initiatives, special projects, and other Financial Aid-related assignments.
  • Work closely with Financial Aid Directors to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in student and financial aid data.
  • Review and provide financial aid services to newly enrolled students as assigned.
  • Support students receiving VA benefits or agency funding and act as a designated campus resource for VA-related financial aid matters.
  • Serve as a point of contact between campus locations and Corporate Financial Aid regarding applicable financial aid needs and processes.
  • Assist with gathering and reviewing documentation necessary for Title IV eligibility and clearance.
  • Participate in campus orientations, student start dates, and other scheduled events or activities as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall objectives of the Financial Aid department.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Associate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
  • Previous experience in Financial Aid, higher education administration, student services, or a related field is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Goal-oriented with a consistent focus on achieving departmental objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports, correspondence, and other business documentation.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and work with key business and operational statistics.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly when addressing issues involving multiple variables within established procedures.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with a commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and quality.
Pay Details: $22.00 to $23.00 per hour
